my boss went to the vegas race, he's not into racing, he took his daughter who is. He liked the cars, but he was not into the event, at all, said he'd never do it again.

I don't think it's a sport that will get you hooked in a one time in-person event like maybe the US Open (tennis) or college football could. But the more immersed I get, the more enjoyable it gets

It's one of a few sports that I think is truly better on TV.  Golf is another.  With either of those you can't possibly have a sense for what is going on by just watching it....you need loads of other info to complete the understanding.

I feel like all sports are better on TV, with the possible exceptions of baseball on a nice day and hockey.

If I go to the F1 race I should fly from SA to Austin just so everyone knows how important I am to the event.

Dude, it's like an hour and a half drive. And you'll have a car.

How will I fit in with the wealthy EuroTrash crowd if they find out I drove an hour and a half instead of just flying there?

If you do intend to go, you'll need to secure your hotel room (or AirBNB) now, if they're still available. Unless you're staying at a friend's place. If hotel, I recommend the Fremont.

This is why 'Clams LLP is the only firm I refer clients to in Kansas City.

Given the right stimulus (such as embarrassment), the nerves prompt the blood vessels to open wide, flooding the skin with blood and causing reddening of the face. In some people, the ears, neck and chest also blush.[/]

Name of emoji "blush"

I don't have any interest, but I keep showing to tell everyone how pissed off I am that Dax keeps talking about Joe Biden in the Joe Biden thread . . . blogkaren

Did you notice the smile? It's blushing in a smitten way. Maybe you can't recognize facial expressions, in which case I'm sorry.

Sure don't hear as many "the earth is only 5000 years old" people these days, do we?
I see a lot of them on western ks social media actually. This stuff doesn’t phase them.

yeah, people that believe this stuff aren't really the type of people that have any interest in admitting they might be wrong. I'm reading a book called "Sapiens" right now and I catch myself all the time thinking how wild it is that a very large portion of said Sapiens don't even believe how they got here.

It's gotten so bad that my (once?) very intelligent father is starting to deny the theory of evolution.

honestly I'd prefer being around a giant group of KS Nascar fans to what I imagine the Euro F1 fan archetype to be. maybe I'm being a bigot towards slimy, smelly euros here though.

Are you afraid their avant garde fashion will make you feel inferior?

no, I grew up around nascar fans so their clothing is not too big a deal to me

I lived in Austin, and every fall, these rich critters would descend upon the city, making normal routines obsolete. I'ma pull a daxtag and say #Eurotrash. But it's very expensive, so they're wealthy Eurotrash. I have experienced them first-hand.

  they only bring up "common ground" when they don't want to be   and have to talk about Pedo Pete.

Usually it's some sort of weird deflection back to Trump.

Looks like we are playing Arizona on Friday the 13th, big boi fox.

Utah @ UCF is the only other Big12 game on Big boi fox Friday. The rest is all big 10 games.

Welcome to the Friday Club, brother.

Grown men fighting (outside of organized/regulated combat) is WT, which I suppose makes sense in this context.

I'm not sure I've ever actually used "take the stand."  Agree with 'trophe.

Yep. In court you'd just say, "The Defense calls [NAME]." Outside of court, you might say (among lawyers), "We're going to put [NAME] on the stand," or, "We're going to subpoena [NAME] to testify."

It means 1. he has no clue because his ppl haven't dictated the policy to him yet and 2. you won't like it.

yes.  He won't have a pill/rubber policy and he was just talking out his ass

Oh the other hand, Trump is known to be an adamant raw-dogger.

We should add some filters that change some of these tired daxisms into silly phrases, just to train him how to communicate like a normal person.

Meh, I was a little underwhelmed.

spracs, as a friend, I would strongly recommend you add “Loljk” or something like that before this turns into your own personal mahommes/lawl thread

I don't recall who started that thread, but it is far from certain whether he'll live up to his lofty expectations. Could go either way. I wasn't impressed w/ him last year. Granted, he was just a freshman.

Maybe reflect on why he's a top 10 Heisman favorite, as a true sophomore, but you are unimpressed. My guess is that you're more influenced by repeatedly reading on the phog that he can't throw than what he's actually shown.

He's limited in his attempts but 37 for 66 for 479 yards with 5 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. His QBR of 91.3 would have been second to Jayden Daniels, the Heisman trophy winner, if Johnson had enough reps to be qualified to be ranked. He's been phenomenal with his limited attempts, saying anything else is objectively incredibly difficult to prove.

I don't even read the Hoops or Gridiron boards on the Phog, because those people are unhinged in multiple ways. I'm just going off watching K-State games, which I do.
