Fishing. It's great. any other goEMAW anglers out there?
« on: June 20, 2011, 01:02:35 AM »
I started fishing again for the first time in 8 years or so this spring.  I'm not very good but become more addicted all the time.  Expert goEMAW fishermen give advice.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

So smart people don't like fishing? Good luck with that.

haven't fished since I was a little kid but enjoyed it then.  really want to go fishing in Key West out in the ocean and junk.  probably don't want to fish at a lake again.

I pretty much just like to drink beer outside, but if I can catch a fish while doing it, the icing is on the cake.  I grew up pond fishing.

Like to catch catfish, take them off the hook and say "It's a Trap!" in my best Admiral Ackbar voice right in their stupid faces.
Where did you get that overnight bag?

did you know that bass can get worms? yeah, it's pretty rough ridin' disgusting. went fishing for some bass in some ponds a few weeks ago, and afterwards when i was cleaning them discovered that their insides were infested with worms. very gross. evidently the parasite is carried by birds from location to location.

who eats bass?  i always considered them a catch and release fish.  hayseed.

i guess the only fish i would catch and eat are crappie and trout, and some catfish.

Yeah, for freshwater fish, this is pretty accurate.

ya that's pretty much the opposite of being true.  not like i wasn't using a baitcaster by 6th grade.

Yeah I cleaned a bass once that had 1 worm.  I cut around it and ate it anyways.

Love fly fishing. Keeps me entertained. I don't get out to do it much, though.

I usually fish here:

Well, that is what you get for keeping your bass.  Catch and release.

Anyway, I don't have a boat so I do my fishing from the shore.  I usually go to Harvey Co. East Lake which is ok I guess. but I'm really interested in getting some pond access in this area.  Anyone in SCK and know of a few hot spots I should check out.  Since I only fish from the shore or wade out a bit and only have limited equipment (one medium spinning reel w/ 10 lb test on mebium rod, and one ultra-light rig), I'm not really utilizing some of my larger "big-bass" lures.  Anyone had any success with beetlespins?  I heard they are a great lure that will catch a variety of fish.

Apparently Walleye are pretty tasty but I wouldn't know.

Speaking of trout, I've heard there are some clearwater streams in the flint hills that are great for trout and spotted bass fising.

Walleye are my fav fresh water fish to eat.  That said, I have never caught one myself, but am interested in starting to do some fishing for them.

I don't eat hardly any fresh water fish other than Walleye and sometimes catfish and I don't eat these often.

You should take your fishing rod to work and hook the 2 juggalos and reel them into the SRS office.

wELLsculptedbrows is THE goEMAW fishing expert and can drop more fishing knowledge than anyone else on this board combined.  He's basically a professional.

If anyone has fishing questions i'm confident he can answer them.

Yeah, Walleye is pretty good if you don't mind getting a heavy dose of mercury with your fish. Thanks, Dow Chemical.
