can't wait to see if we end up a 10 seed or a play-in participant

I've said it before, but I actually think if you're not going to be a top 4 seed then 10/11 is a good place to be.  8/9 is one of the worst; playing a toss-up game followed immediately by playing a #1 seed.

People say this all the time but there's little to no difference between a 1 and a 2, this is magnified this year. There will be blue bloods on the 2 line, not so much the 1 other than Villanova.

My point is more geared towards whether you have to play a 1 or 2 in the opening weekend.

I know, a 10 would play a 2 in the second round as opposed to a 8/9 playing a 1. The line of demarcation is at 11 and 12, it's why a first four team has made the sweet 16 every year.

I agree that this year, I don't think there will be much difference in playing a 1 or a 2 in the Rd of 32.  Matchup will be more important. If Auburn got a 1 and Duke a 2, I know who I'd rather play.

In recent years, the 2s have had a harder time making the Sweet 16.  Past 8 years, 13x a 2 seed, 6x a 1 seed failed to make the 2nd weekend.  Now 3 of those 13 were the 2 seed losing to a 15 (not a 7/10)

Sadly I think Auburn is going to end up a 3 seed.

We're at least an 8 right now, maybe a 7. If we can win out, and I think we can, we should be a 6 or a 5 (top25 team).

All this nonsense about quads and tiers should be reserved for tie breakers as to the last 4 teams in the tournament. Should Wichita State get punished for losing to a healthy notre dame, while ku gets rewarded for beating an injured aTm, no.

We have a committee getting paid to use their brains and expertise to decide who goes where, not sort skittles into piles by color. My 3-yr old can do that.

You're right, I actually meant 11/12 are the better spots.  Not 10/11.

Petro was on 810 yesterday discussing whether 10-8 would be enough to get KSU into the dance.   :shakesfist:

petro knows his stuff and hopefully he is right and 10-8 might not be good enough for the cats to dance

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Great topic. Iowa State could really help this cause with some Hilton Magic tonight.

Getting on the 8/9 line is great because you can expect to get pasted by the 1 seed in the round of 32 and have zero expectations of winning.

Pfft, there have been 3 blue moons since oscar reached this extraordinary event

Play in game is def best for "Bruceology" ... gives him the best shot at another "tourney win" and advancement into the "second round".

What an interesting resume for Oklahoma State.  I feel like it's pretty tough to ignore despite their RPI of 100+

Non Con SOS 305
Non Con Wins = 1 (Q1) 0 (Q2) 2 (Q3) 7 (Q4)
Total Road wins all year = 2
6-9 record in Conference

Their wins at WV/Ku and vs Tech are great, but when you combine the 4 things above, its easy to see why they are not a real bubble team right now. Getting swept by KState/Tcu/Baylor did them no favors.

Mid week update :

5-6 seeds (#17-24 overall)------ I think Ohio St, Rhode Island, Gonzaga are 5 seeds.  Kentucky, Nevada, and Arizona St would be in this group too.  I'm not really sure who deserves the last Two 6 seeds

7-8 seeds (#25-32),  Now I will put 10 teams in this group, not 8.  I think these teams are so close in their overall resume,so not necessarily in order----- Houston, Butler, Bama, VTech, Michigan, FSU, Mizzou, Creighton, KState, Providence

9-10 seeds (#33-40) Florida, TCU, Seton Hall, Arkansas, Texas A&M, OU, Miami, NC State.
St Mary's & St Bony are #41,42.  Texas & Baylor in the mix for Last 4 In (#43-46)

We’re going to have to win out the season to get past the 8/9 line. Our current RPI is atrocious.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Why? Does it matter?  Are you looking at the next round against a #1 seed?

oscar hasn't won a 1st round game yet, no worries........ :shakesfist:

Here's what I have.

Butler
Saint Mary's College
Texas A&M
Florida State

I took bracketmatrix projections from last night and tweaked it a little bit this time so some of those teams moved around a little bit.
