Football Team: (this info is legit, not a joke, I swear)
SEC history: Traditional bottom feeders. Founding member in 1932.
Only teams they have a winning record against: Vandy, Kentucky, and Texas A&M (for now, small sample size). So basically 3rd worst team in SEC history.
Alabama 18 80 3 .193 Lost 10
Arkansas 11 16 1 .411 Won 1
Auburn 26 63 2 .297 Lost 2
Florida 19 33 2 .370 Won 1
Georgia 6 18 0 .250 Lost 2
Kentucky 23 22 0 .511 Won 1
LSU 35 73 3 .329 Won 1
Missouri 1 2 0 .333 Won 1
Ole Miss 44 64 6 .407 Lost 1
USC 7 9 0 .438 Won 1
Tennessee 16 28 1 .367 Won 1
T A&M 6 5 0 .545 Won 2
Vanderbilt 13 7 2 .636 Won 3
1 conference championship... during WW2 (LOL does that even count?, kstate has 2 XII, 1 Big 6)
1 (shared) division championship in 1998 (k-state has 4)
2 consensus all americans (k-state has 12)
Most wins in 1 season: 10, 3 times (kstate 9x, with 11 wins 7x)
Total weeks ranked in AP: 187 (k-state 211)
Really no contest historically, and this is with K-State being literally the worst program in history for 8 decades.
2017 Season-went 8-4, 4-4 in regular season, won bowl game vs louisville.
V good season for them (4th best all time), good job guys!
-1 quality win (LSU, a team that lost to TROY)
-got absolutely SMASHED by Georgia and Auburn
-moral victory vs Bama
-lost to a very mediocre Ole Miss (yes there are 2 schools in Mississippi, I just discovered this!)
-basically were ranked because they played in a league with Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn, who
they lost to a combined 111-37-won by 11 vs UMASS, and by 7 vs a 4-8 Arkansas
As we HFBIQ posters know, the SEC has 2 or 3 legit teams a year, with a whole bunch of pretenders that benefit from the association. Ole Miss St is no exception. They've never been that good, even when they had Dak they couldn't break through. Now they have a new coach and expect to be better than ever...
2018 Forecast/Game Predicto:
They're supposed to be pretty good according to "experts", return a bunch, strong lines, but a new coach/system. Should build on a "strong" season (
see above). They pretty much think we're trash bc our rivals rankings suck, literally the only thing their fans know or care about. We have new coordinators, new special teams, and replace over 1/2 our defense. On the plus our O should b v good, and we play at home, at 11am, a good time traditionally for LHCBS.
Here's my take: we crap the bed last year against Vandy. We didn't implode but it shut the door early on a good season. Ole Miss St on the other hand dominated LSU around the same time and from there finished the season with one more win. These teams are comparable, but their perceptions hinged on those early season games. IMO this game comes down to: how good is our D? We lose both starting LB, DJamer, and GearBear. We were horrible against the pass. Will the new, more athletic LB duo and new, hopefully more aggressive coordinators improve our D? Or do we continue to sacrifice the secondary to stop the run at all costs? Really should be a great game.
cats by 10 probably, might be close as our D "tunes up" and special teams starts to "click"
