I’ll be there. I think I’m on Stevie’s team.

2
Perry’s connection to Link is great, but he’s also coached the MoKan Elite teams for years and is currently the coach of the 17U team. He’s got connections on connections.

And MIR is right, he’ll play in the grey a bit, but I don’t think he’ll cheat to a Kansas or LSU scale. Still, there will be dudes coming to Manhattan.

Rodney Perry

You don't need that emoji...

I'm so excited, especially with the possibilities coming with the staff he is putting together. I think we'll see dudes in this class.

I'm angry.

I'm angry that the line of lavender gear that his family is outfitted in isn't available anywhere. I have some lav stuff but I want the wildcats hoodie that his daughter has. If she was an XL, I'd beat her ass and take it from her. I had to buy a lavender t-shirt from Rally House last night, gross.

Angry enough?

I have the hoodie his daughter wore, they sold it a K-State Super Store.

Here is the audio of the money quote from Coach with Wyatt after the presser.

TANG: You need some dudes, right? At the end of the day, it's not rocket science. You have to get some dudes on campus. There was a time there were some dudes here, and there are a couple dudes still on campus. We just have to get some more dudes around them. The competition is what makes practice every day great, which allows you to raise your level of play when you face competition on the outside. We want to find guys who really embrace competition. If all these guys want to play professionally, guess what, when you go and become a pro, whether its overseas or in the NBA, there are other good players on that roster, and you have to compete against them to get onto the floor. You've got to learn to compete early in life. We want to find kids who are super competitive, and who don't shy away from it, and they don't care that there are other good players. Good players want to play with other good players. Bad players want to play by themselves.

Should be fun.

Is he getting the Missouri job?

It sounds like he's not talking to anyone right now, or his camp and whatever school he is talking to have kept it extremely quiet.

Also sounds like Mack back to Xavier is in play if not likely.

There are still discussions going on between K-State and Brad, but I'm not sure where that's at. He hasn't said no as far as I know as of yet.

11
There isn't any need for worrying about pace and McCasland. He's not going to be the guy.

you know how when they clean up all the trash from a filthy beach and then the sea turtles will come back and start laying their eggs again? I mean Asava is back and Daris is bringin the spicy mustard. I don't think _FAN will be making an appearance but hey anything could happen

What's up?

Plenty of good, get your final oscar thoughts out comments here. oscar should have just released a statement the next morning and called it good. I thought his postgame comments were pretty good actually and a fine end to his tenure. (and it should be the end). But in the zoom he couldn't help himself and IMO while he used the general words fanbase/social media he was really talking about Fitz and the portion of the fanbase (of which I was a part at the time) pining for Brad in 2016 and 2017. That's what he truly took offense at, especially when he recovered from that dark moment to get an Elite 8 and conference title. These coaches always say they don't pay attention to the media and never forget, but that stuff is burned into their brains. Heck, he even brought up the Gottlieb meeting (of which I was also a part, pre sink breaking).

In the end oscar got in front of the media and made very oscar comments. He had a terrible end to his era, yet we as fans can bring up his accomplishments when we compare ourselves to other programs vying for coaches right now. None of the others programs can claim a pair of Elite 8s and a pair of conference titles in the last dozen or so years and that's what Gene and K-State need to be selling; come here and you can win just like the last 3 coaches have.

I will remember oscar fondly overall and appreciate the good times though the last 3 seasons (I enjoyed this one much of the time though) and his final presser weren't his best moments for sure.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Re: Scott Drew.

I forgot about how he continually found JUCO guard studs (he had Lecomte after those other guys), then switched to building 1/3 of his team with big time transfers. Also switched from crazy long guys in a zone and played ridiculous man to man defense. Drew is a stud.

Baylor had 3 AP poll appearances before Drew became the HC. Crazy.

Another great Cat gone too soon. This was shared on KSO by his father and I thought you all should be aware. I never met pvegs in person, but I always enjoyed interacting here and at KSO.

Quote
This is Phil Vega, dad of Paul Vega who was known by fellow Foundation posters as pvegs. He unexpectedly died early Wednesday morning March 24 at his home in Seattle. Paul was born in Kansas, but due to my job we moved when he was just 7. But he became a huge Wildcats fan. Prompted by me, KSU Class of 1975. And also his godfather who would send us VHS tapes of the games and annual basketball and football media guides.
Paul was lucky to begin being cognizant of sports at the start of HCBS‘s remarkable rebuild of the football program. This resulted in him being the only kid in his Arizona classrooms to be wearing a Michael Bishop jersey or other Wildcats gear.
The Cats played in several bowls while we were in Arizona. The most fun we attended was the 1997 Fiesta Bowl when we put it to Syracuse.
He was on this board daily, we would talk frequently about what you all were saying. And I know he direct messaged many of you to discuss all the fine points of Wildcats sports. Most every basketball and football game he and I would text sharing our disappointments and our thrills at various Wildcats plays.
Wherever he lived he brought EMAW fandom to every one he met. It’s something nearly everyone he worked with has mentioned to us in Seattle as we prepare for his services.
To close I want to say this board, this circle of fans, stretches across the nation. We are all bound together by our love of sports and the Wildcats. Those are ties that won’t be broken, no matter the success produced on the courts or football fields.

Can we get 1800 people to give their entire stimi?

I still like Shaka even though he has hair now and I don't.

We improved with A Gordon in the lineup late in the year, too, so I wouldn't attribute our improved play strictly to a four-guard lineup. We may have taken advantage of offensive match ups against Baylor, but they hurt us on the offensive boards. It's nice to hav e a true forward option. A Gordon was hitting the boards before his sudden and unexplained absence. Is he and Murphy both gone?
Also, does Oscar get to gulag A Gordon with no explanation? If this is another pot related thing, Oscar needs to get with the 21st century. If Antonio was doing things that put the team at risk during covid, yeah I get the banishment.

Good points. Not sure on the specifics with Gordon and his likely departure. My big picture point is that we maintained good defense and rebounding in the 4 games he missed out of the last 5. Vital did hurt us, but we still were better on OR% in the game than Baylor which is somewhat impressive given their Oboarding rate for the season.

Assuming oscar (or Brad ) doesn’t oscar anyone important in the off-season, what are the biggest 1 or 2 glaring roster needs heading into 2021-22? This includes both recruits and transfers.

Our biggest need is more roster spots so we can get an actual point guard and move pack off the ball.

If Antonio Gordon is actually gone  :crossfingers: do we have anyone worth a crap we could replace him with?

He's the best 4 we have and before he got hurt or whatever is gong on, he played his role, d and rebounding, nearly perfectly. He just needs to chill out on the 3s arcs he started doing that.

Agree on Antonio, but I think he's gone. Hopefully Murphy can be healthy for a season.

Absolutely agree that we need a valid point/combo that can handle playing on the ball to move Pack off for the majority of the game.

I’m not a NBA analyst at all, but I just feel like his finesse would be valuable as a big in the league. Sneed was on draft board after the Kentucky game, you don’t think this guy will get some hits? @MakeItRain

Sneed got some looks because of the possibility of being an athletic 3 and D guy. We knew that he was a streaky shooter at best, if he declared after his sophomore year, he would have come back.

I don't think any of these guys are NBA players and that's okay. Like I said early in the year, if they stay together they'll probably be better than Brown, Stokes, & Wade. Could you imagine these freshmen next year if they had an NBA small forward playing with them like those other guys did?

A starting 5 of Pack, Miguel, Westicles, Lewis, and Bradford...sick.

Lewis, as in Seryee?

Yeah because oscar insists on playing a 4 and I don't know who else is gonna play there if Antonio is gone. I know he played 4 guards in the tournament but I don't think he sees that as a long term solution. I think his insistence on playing a power forward cost us a couple of games.

As far as Seryee goes though, I do like him a lot and I think the off season will be great for him.

I'm hopeful that the smaller line up and the success we had with it (especially on defense) convinces oscar it is a viable line up, especially in a league that mostly plays 4 guards/wings anyway. Plus, oscar has had decent teams with guys like Shane and Nino at the 4 while at K-State. I also think Murphy will be back and hopefully he can get healthy and play a full season. Regardless, playing small some and with a more traditional 4 some based on who the opponent has in the game would be wise. I mean, we absolutely abused Vital multiple times in the first half because he couldn't guard Dajuan or Selton on oops or drives. Lewis is an intriguing prospect and probably a guy willing to play a smaller role too. A regular offseason will be great for a lot of our guys.
