Yost isn't managing this game like he would in October. He's trying to get as many innings out of Guts as he possibly can between now and then. He may lose this game and more because of it, but he really doesn't care.

it probably should be. you have to have a lot of zeal to get good and furious with this game though. just doesn't have much emotion in it.

Guys, it is really time to give Medlen a start. Put him on a 75 pitch limit his 1st start and increase it with each additional start.

Guts 1.83 WHIP and .342 Ave allowed over his last 7 starts.
There are 109 Pitchers in MLB who have 100 Inn or more.
Of those, Guts is 109th with a 1.59 WHIP

Guts isn't stupid. He knows his role, and if he's a grown up, he should accept and embrace it. He's not getting DFA'd or anything. Very few players exit the show because of any reason other than they are no longer able to compete at a high enough level.

I agree. He's been nothing but a class act (These O's t-shirt included), and he will accept it. It still sucks.

Guts giving up 3 runs was a blessing compared to what it could have been. He threw way too many pitches in such a short time on the mound. Great run Guts, but time to hang it up as a SP.

probably should wait for september. if medlen blows up you don't want to kill the bullpen with the small roster. with guthrie, if he blows up, you can just let him blow up.
