Silverado's had an unlikely rise in the late 90's riding the wave of a Wed night post formal dinner Soro crowd.

Until then, I had only been in Silverado's once, when they brought in the "Playboy Centerfolds" traveling stripper show where I was PIed by Nile Wyren  :ohno:

I worked at Luckys from '97-'00, then the best places were Rusty's , Lucky's, and Tula's.  I spent 90% of my time at Tula's.  Loved that place, especially Thursdays.  .10 cent wings and $7 Capt Morgan pitchers.   :woot:  :drink: :lynchmob:

Do any of you all remember the bar called Berlin? For the bubble gummers, it was where Gumbys was/is (not sure if Gumbys is still there or not) located. Rumors it was a gay bar, I never saw any of that feces in there, but the music was outstanding.

Always the rumor I had heard too.  311 played there once while I was at KSU if I remember correctly.

They played at Bombers.

Aggieville Power Rankings

1. O'Malleys - Belfasts, douchebag ratio usually low
2. Porters - good hot chick ratio, cheap tacos
3. Auntie Maes - a classic
4. Pats - good music, Wednesdays = :excited:
5. So Long - would be higher if creepster didn't hang around
6. Kathouse - hot chicks like it, not trashy
7. The Lou - legendary but bathrooms =  :barf:
8. Fats - underage night!
9. Rock-a-belly - nice, but not my crowd (not that there is anything wrong with that)
10. Purple Pig - didn't pay for drinks for like 2 years cause I knew the bartenders
11. Ale House/Tanks - basically Fats but more douchy
12. Salty Rim - hot girls yet kinda lame
13. Shot Stop - small
14. The Loft - the one time I've been here, we lost in the E8
15. Tubbys - at least it's not Kites
16. Kites - at least it's not Rustys
17. Rustys - at least it's not Silverados
18. Silverados - military/Junction City trash

New bars -  :dunno:

Rusty's was never the place to go, unless you were some 40 year old alcoholic townie who liked to creep on hooker girls chasing after football players.

And LOL @ Tula's.  Not horrible, I liked their 10 cent wings too, once ate 50 of them in a setting.

Damn, some of you were real losers in college.  That's ok, it takes all types to make the world go around.

Back when it was snookies.  a few years before my arrival. thought they played again in manhattan after that, but their wiki tour says no.

I might try out the Chili crawl tomorrow night or w/e. Seems interesting.

I did this a few years ago. It was a lot of fun. You will get full so try to hit up the best bars first.

Best:
Rock-a-Belly Deli
Coco Bolo's
Auntie Mae's

Worst:
Rusty's
Gumby's
Kite's

BWW was also pretty good, but they put their blazing sauce in the chili, so it was really hot.

thanks for tips. We'll see how it goes...

Auntie Mae's is for ugly people.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Heading to the ville Thursday for the 1st time in a couple years.  Every bar I used to hang out in is gone.  Where should I go pre game?  Does it really matter? :dunno:  Looking forward to my trip.   :pbj:

It's obvious that their revenues are going down simply by the fact that they now charge for jalapenos on nachos.  Who the heck does that??

Have heard 'apenos are still free if you pay cash instead of credit.

True story:  had a friend get roofied there on a Sunday afternoon a couple of years back.  Can't remember if it was truly "afternoon" because it was around lunchtime, but I do remember said friend is of the gender that dangles.  Rusty's...  :drink:  :barf:   :pbj:

For those "mature" enough to remember the drinking age at 18:

Best:

1) Sports-Fan-Attic. A sports bar before there were such things. Really hard to beat pitchers at 2-fer Tuesdays, 3-fer Wednesdays and 4-fer Thursdays prices. $10 would get you absolutely blasted.

2) Darkhorse.  Always a good mix of college and townies. Also a good place to catch an occasional drunk-out-of-their mind football player.

3) Brothers. The absolutely best place to observe some really strange crap. The concept of 5 cent beer Wednesdays was brilliant. Started at 5pm and continued until someone used the bathroom. Always enjoyed the occasional bikers showing up to kick some ass. Too bad You Tube didn't exist.     :runaway:

4) Rusty's. A generic place at the time. Good food at the time. Had a Chem professor that halted class and told everyone that it was drinking time and took us all there. It was a summer class, mind you, so it was a small crowd. It could get odd, at times, though when the cocaine started flowing late at night.

Worst:

1) Kites.  Fraternity/Sorority types only.

2) Mr. K's. Only thing to do there was to use the dance floor.

3) Mannequins. Just a really strange place.

4) Bushwackers. Pretty much the same as Mannequins.

6) Aunti Mae's. Pretty much a cellar with lights.
