Forgot to tell you guys the kids and I counted 68 hawks on the way to Manhattan from St. Joe a couple weeks ago.  Most on telephone poles.  Many on trees.  Some flying.

That's a lot of hawks.  I once lost count on how many telephone poles in a row had a hawk on it on the way from Ft. Scott to Joplin.  True story, not making that up or anything.

@sys

I've killed 3 mice in my shed so far this spring. From doing some quick research on my Google machine it looks like they were deer mice.

A little larger than regular house mouse and distinct white belly.

definitely sound like Peromyscus (genus that includes deer mice).  iirc, you had a mouse last year that looked like a white-footed mouse in the pic you posted, so there's a decent chance these are white foots as well.  but you could easily have both species present.  they look very similar.

Did I ever tell you guys the story about the farm/city cat my dad is in love with? Last spring when he was on the farm he found a litter of kittens and brought the runt back home with him to nurse back to health (eyes matted shut/not going to live/etc). It's name is "Farm Kitty"

Anyways he freaking loves this cat and would take it back to the farm with him every time he went. He even rushed it to the vet in town after it fell out of a tree on the farm.

The cat is a year old now and in heat. My dad says he is going to let it live at the farm now but loves it too much to let it go. Brought it out 2 weeks ago with the intention of letting it go but ended up bringing it back.

He is currently out on the farm again with the cat but I guarantee he comes back with it knocked up. (He let's it roam the barn during the day)

Yeah you brought that up a few pages ago.  He loves the cat more than he loves Rush Limbaugh.

I hope your dad keeps that cat.

I found 6 baby bunnies that have created a nest on the side of our house and i'm terrified for them. I don't see no momma or poppa rabbit around to take care of them and they're just nesting there. I think they're going to get plucked one by one.  :frown:

I didn't want to get too close to them, so this pic sucks, but here they are.

Turn Gator loose on them.  That way they get plucked all at once and not one at a time.

If you touch them and get your scent on them their mother will reject them and kick them out of the pack or whatever a bunch of baby bunnies is called.

Yeah, not going to touch them, just wanted to toss some carrots in their hole. I'd wear gloves to do it.
