NO SPOILERS, I have done zero leaked episode research, and don't want to know....

...So, tonight does Jamie drown and get revived ala Iron Born?  Or, do they get cute and not even address him this episode?

Isn't it time for some Hound, and maybe Arya?  I bet she kills him, and Beric and the red priest resurrect him or some crap.

So who is higher in the succession line? The son of the son of the dead king or the daughter of the dead king?

Yep, that's why there's so much riding on Jon being legitimate. He's the rightful Targ.

No.  Also FYI there are about a million Brandon Starks in the history of the Stark family.

Yep, that's why there's so much riding on Jon being legitimate. He's the rightful Targ.

It depends upon if Rhaegar was killed before or after Aeres II. If after, then Rhaegar was king, and Jon has he best claim. If before, Jon's just the son of a prince and Rhaegar's siblings have better claims. I'm sure the sequence of deaths is explained in the books but I'm not sure it's been explained in the show.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

The nerds I googled are saying that they follow strict primogeniture in Westeros, which means the line of succession stays with Rhaegar and his descendants even if Rhaegar died before assuming the crown (and he evidently did). Maybe gender plays a role, too, but it is irrelevant if the foregoing law of succession is correct.

Ooooh the intrigue!

But the more interesting part of this episode is that Jon is gonna ride a dragon. And if the show is adding a dragon rider, that means they'll be needing a third. And that means.... MEERA!!!

(Like this except on bigass dragons)

Westoros progression seems in line with most European monarchies, in which case who dies when has no effect on succession order. Oldest son of oldest son, 2nd son of oldest son, third son of oldest son, etc until there's no more sons. Then you get into tricky daughter of oldest son or oldest son of 2nd oldest son territory.

TL:DNR John is king
