try "the act of killing", it's about the same subject.  this is the the movie i thought mir was talking about at first.  looks like they are "companions" with overlap on the people who worked on each

Didn't even know this documentary existed but I'm assuming this is about Johnny Gosch. I first learned about him years ago when I lived in Maine, I was the assistant director at the camp of that t-shirt he was photographed in, there is a camp legend that his ghost haunts the camp. They do a news story once or twice a year on him here. I'll check that out.

I started one last night called The Propaganda Game.  It's about North Korea and actually has a ton of North Korean talking heads in it.  Interesting to watch and wonder how much of what you're seeing is orchestrated and how much our view of DPRK is based on the West's propaganda.

Sure -- and a lot of what the documentary cited as "propaganda" was just cable news stories.  O'Reilly cracking up at the various atrocities.  Stuff like that.  Apparently the story a few years back about how one of the higher ups in the Kim government was executed by rabid dogs tearing him apart is completely unsubstantiated.

Obviously it's a crap place full of human rights violations.  I don't consider amnesty international to be some super biased source of propaganda, for example.  But it was interesting to kind of check my own point of view about a place universally considered backwards and evil.

For those at all interested in North Korea, I'd check it out.

I think the dog thing was pretty well retracted. Ircc correctly the dprk put that story out as propaganda and the west reported it and then later reported it was false or was a hoax or something.

I didn't think the dog story was true but I didn't remember ever hearing that it was discredited. So he didn't feed one of his henchmen to dogs but I'm guessing that Il still has had several people that has worked for him murdered.

I read a book a few years ago about the Franklin Credit Union thing, complete with all the accusations about the Omaha links to a national pedo ring with high level participants.   Pretty crazy stuff.

There seems to be a decent amount of blowback on twitter about some journalist involved with this.

Because he's honest (but unrepentant) about the tabloid aspect of news. I enjoyed his parts, and he's certainly a horrible person, but he doesn't try to pretend to be someone noble so whatever.

I enjoyed the documentary Raiders! The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made - Basically some kids did a shot for shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark growing up over the course of seven years.  They were never able to do the plane scene so they get back together 25ish years later to do it/finish the film.  Nothing terribly insightful but fun and great to watch these guys achieve their dreams, no matter how ridiculous.  I was into film making growing up so it struck a chord with me.

Watched Cartel Land over the weekend. Good, kind of hard to watch. Enjoyed what I perceived the director's turn in how he depicted the rebels abiut half way through. Didn't really care about the American storyline.

Watching Oliver Stone's "Untold History of the United States."

Definitely worth watching if you're into history stuff.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

did you give up or finish?  I was sleepily attempting to finish, but feel like I probably missed a half hour.
