mrs mocat really wants a beagle. they are adorbs but how do you make them not howl all the time? like when you are at work all day don't they just howl and howl and howl?

mocat, as a border collie aficionado, you will not be able to tolerate a beagle.  trust me on this one.

beagles eff up everything non stop.

The artisan dog food I've used from jump is so artisan that they no longer allow chewy.com to sell it.  I can still get from local artisan stores.  Meanwhile chewy.com is pushing 4 artisan-ish dog foods that they say are comparable.  I've got a bag of each coming, that cost almost nothing during this promo where they're trying to get people to switch to what they sell.

How should I pepsi challenge these new foods along w/the OG artisan food to see what to roll with going forward?

I've read about how it's good to keep the food consistent.  I don't think that'll be an issue for mine; I already rotate through 8 different varieties of the current artisan food.  She seems to eat more enthusiastically when it's not the same flavors in her mouf.

apparently if you change dog foods, you should mix the new food in with the old food a few times to make the transition easier on the stomach. this is more for puppies than dogs iirc

I've read that, but I don't feel like that will help me learn what she likes best.

These new types shouldn't be causing any stomach trauma; they're all supposed to be very comparable ingredient-wise to the existing artisan.
