Anyone ever fished for Redfish inland along the Gulf? I may do a charter with my Dad, and don't really know what to look for in a good Redfish charter or whatever.

I may be doing some of this just east of Bay St. Louis, MS in like 2 weeks. If I do, will report back.

We also plan on going softshell crabbing.

where? When? If soon I would NOT go south of Ft Myers. Due to more rain than usual there has been a lot of water let out of Okeechobee via the Caloosahatche river so the water clarity & fishing has been poor.

yes, its fun if you have a flyrod youll have more luck overall with some trout and possibly flounder. Shrimp is a good bait to use

We are going to be in the Gulf Shores, AL area. I don't have a fly rod, and am not experienced with one. I'll just use what the guide has. Hell, I'd be OK with a Zebco and a spinner if he says that will work. My Dad is a huge fan, so this is more for him than me. Just some QT with Dad.

I did read that there are flounder to be had when fishing for Redfish. That would be cool, I've never caught one before.

thats the cool thing about fishing down there. You really dont know what youre going to catch.

caught a crap ton of sand trout on shrimp in the gulf. It was really good mild white fish.

Look for the Blue Squares, these are F.I.S.H. sites. Basically farm ponds that are leased to the state of KS and anyone with a license can fish at. There are 2 sites just south of Baldwin City that I have fished before, had good luck at both of them.

Landed a mess of wipers fishing the spillway at Hillsdale on Saturday.

Minnow about 1ft under a bobber thrown in the whitewash.

Just a standard bait hook with some bullet weights, nothing fancy.
