i think the sil is mad because the poster went to sleep on the couch in the wrong floor of the condo? like he and his wife had their own section where he could have slept, but instead he just passed out in the sil and her spouse's section?

i'm also intrigued by the flu bug, not the flu, diagnosis.

Where does the foster kid (who was going ape crap) fit into all of this? Who were the 4 people who had the flu bug (but not flu)? He only mentions 2 kids. If she was just mad that he fell asleep on her level why mention all the stuff about the kids? Hmmmm, let me read it a few more times.

I don't think it's sys's theory because why mention the foster kid, other 2 kids, flu, nap time, etc. if his only offense was sleeping on the wrong couch. Lib's theory intrigued me but something doesn't add up. Why was he placed in charge of the 2 flu ridden toddlers when their parents are in the same condo? He never mentions being placed in charge of them. And where does the foster kid fit into this puzzle? His appearance is just so random. Too random.

There are a lot of gaps. But I think he fell asleep, was not in charge of watching any kids, while there were sick kids sleeping in another room as well. He gets woken up by the foster kid going ape crap and flips out on him saying people are trying to sleep. The SIL gets pissed at him for telling the foster kid to STFU.

I think he’s underselling what happened and bet he flipped on the kid for waking him up, but tries to turn it as he might wake up the sick kids.

Honestly, who rough ridin' knows what he meant with that story though.

Oh he meant the floor/level of the condo, not the actual like carpet in the room he was sleeping in. He told the girl to shut the eff up because he thought the kids were sleeping in the next room and they were somewhere completely different the whole time. I'm gonna say he's a dick.

When I first read it I came to the conclusion that he got in trouble for telling the foster kid to be quiet. But the more times I read it the more it seemed like the person he told about the sleeping kids was the same person as the person who went ape crap on him. So the SIL.

Also when he says the flu bug was "running through them" did he mean that it was, like, coursing through their veins? (weird) Or was he saying that it was going from person to person in the family?

That thread has 100 posts, and they keep asking him to clarify and he simply can't.

I'm leaning towards him being slow and very unaware of his surroundings and situations.

Thus, going with him being the dick, without even knowing the actual details of the story.

Also on some level I feel bad for the guy because I wouldn't want to go on every vacation with my wife's siblings' families either. Of course neither would my wife and it wouldn't be over an apology demand.

Sounds like a classic case of the "final straw." The dude is completely oblivious to the type of annoying crap he was doing the entire time leading up to the couch incident. Then he snaps at the SIL's foster kid (guarantee this wasn't the first run in) and she loses it.

Deduction: this guy often seems to single out the foster kid. SIL is already extra protective of foster kid (mysterious background) and feels like the guy never really accepted him/her into the family. Unfounded accusation about needing to keep quiet cause of (potentially?) sick real family elsewhere brings everything to a head.
