We play in a real conference, and we've beaten the #2 team in the nation.

I'm saying that NDSUs only claim to fame is beating KSU once. We've beaten Texas at Texas and the #2 team in the nation at home. Along with a ton more that I'm not going to list.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Atmosphere
« on: July 26, 2013, 05:16:00 PM »
I'm sure this has been posted before since Massey played for Aris in 06-08, but I thought it was worth posting again.  I'd like to see this kind of atmosphere in person at least once before I die.  I think we should hire some of these guys to come over to the fOOD.

I mean, if we weren't going to be really good, a complete disaster of a season would be my next choice.

Just thinking about how angry the fans will be at BW and JC while being stomped by KU could be a magical moment.  Will JC even come to the game?

I haven't been to a game this season because of the boredom factor, but now I'm getting excited about going just to be really angry. I hope the students get on board with some really hateful stuff.

We have been completely validated gang, let's have some fun with it!

Kansas State Football / Can we talk Miami travel?
« on: November 11, 2012, 01:15:10 AM »
I'm looking for the best way to get to Miami without spending a fortune and I'm guessing others are too so hopefully some of the more knowledgeable travelers here can help.

So far from what I've heard, you can book on southwest and cancel anytime without getting a penalty but instead of a refund you'll receive a voucher for a future flight.  This seems like a good deal, but right now the nonstop flights out of KC for the popular days and times run about $800 round trip  :surprised:

You can get another airline around half the price (usually 1 stop).  You can also get AA out of Manhattan at a decent price.  Does anybody know what their cancellation policy is? I'm feeling pretty confident now so it doesn't have to be great, but a partial refund option would be nice to have.

Another option someone mentioned is just wait until the Alumni Association or another group puts together travel packages, but I've never looked at whether those are a huge ripoff or not.

I want to book soon, like tomorrow if I don't wait for the travel packages, so any help would be appreciated.  I'd also be interested to hear what days people are planning on going.

Tech Support and Suggestion Board / Hosting and traffic
« on: October 17, 2012, 07:37:41 PM »
So obviously the site is getting a ton of traffic.  If you need to upgrade hosting, or want to move onto a content delivery network for traffic spikes let me know. I've used quite a few providers and have a good deal of experience with shared/VPS/dedicated hosting.  Also, I have a CDN account sitting around that could be used to handle a lot of traffic.

If someone really does try to DDOS the site, check into turning on DDOS protection through CloudFlare.  I'm pretty sure I saw you guys were already using them for something.

Essentially Flyertalk / Photography Related Thread
« on: September 14, 2012, 05:06:28 PM »
Ok, let's give this a shot.  Talk photography and equipment, or share good photos that you or someone else has taken.

I'll kick it off by talking about my beginner strobist setup I'm trying out.

I ordered 2 old Nikon sb-24 flashes
This kit from B&H
A wireless shutter trigger
Still looking around for the right set of wireless flash triggers.  I don't want to spend the money for a pocketwizard yet so I'm probably going to go with Yongnuo rf-602.

All together I'll have about $250 in it.  This is usually a portrait type setup but I'll be using it for product photography as well as trying to get interesting shots using the flashes off camera.

Essentially Flyertalk / WTB: CHEAP Meat Goat Parts!
« on: May 20, 2012, 01:54:36 AM »
I'm planning to switch my German Shepherd to a raw meat diet after testing out most of the high end kibble without great results.  I tried to stay away from it for a long time because it seems like a pain in the ass but I think it's time to give it a shot.  Has anybody else tried this before?

My main question is where to get this stuff on a regular basis without spending a fortune every month...

Here's what I'm after:

Raw Meaty Bones:
chicken leg quarters/backs/necks
turkey, pork, or lamb necks

Muscle Meat:
beef or pork hearts
sardines, tilapia

Organ Meat:
beef liver, kidney, or chicken livers.

If anybody has questions about feeding raw I'd be happy to answer them, but since I haven't tried it yet all I know is from the research I've done.

Just wondering if anybody can make an appointment to meet with Currie?

I'd be willing to go in and record a meeting, telling him face to face how much he sucks and how much we hate him if it's possible.

I'm not the best candidate for this because there are other people here who are much quicker on their feet, but I want to make sure JC has to answer for rough ridin' us over and I feel like if we don't do anything, he won't really have to.

Thoughts?

Starts at 3:00 if anyone else wants to go up there and watch in person. And maybe express an opinion to Currie afterward.

Already know several people who are planning on attending.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Free Parking Pass
« on: February 02, 2012, 03:32:51 PM »
Can't go to the game on Saturday so I sold my tickets on PowercatExchange and they don't include the parking.  It's spot 825 in the west lot.

I live close to the stadium, I'll put it on my porch and you can pick it up whenever.

She was by far the most junkyardy fan in attendance tonight.  I'm not sure if she had been drinking or not, but whatever it is, she needs to keep doing it.

Screaming like crazy when nobody else is, standing when nobody else is (probably pissing off the people in the front row chairbacks who know they can't say anything), and even running the baseline to make noise on both ends when the game got tight!  A horrible night in the 'Gon, but she really impressed me.

Tech Support and Suggestion Board / 502 Bad Gateway
« on: January 10, 2012, 10:45:29 PM »
The last few days when I click on a thread I've sporadically been getting a page that says:

502 Bad Gateway

If I keep reloading it will eventually load the page, but that can be anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.

PS.  it's now doing it while I'm trying to post this, but I'm sure it will let me post it soon.

Kansas State Football / Gus Johnson :*(
« on: November 20, 2011, 12:59:29 AM »
I was under the impression Gus loved the Cats, but I guess not.   What was up with the bias?

I didn't really mind, I kind of like the whole "Us against the world" feeling, but I started wondering if there was some sort of reasoning behind it.  Maybe they knew about the CTR rivalry and how badly the horns needed a win to keep it going?

Hopefully any news or rumors about the broadcast can go here.  Let's get this thing started:

Rumor about Eric Stonestreet being invited on to Gameday via a rando guy at GPC:

Quote
I had the opportunity to meet Eric tonight at the Pike house. As he was leaving he mentioned that College Gameday had contacted him and wanted him to come be a guest on the show if they do end up coming to Manhattan. The guy is awesome.

His tweets made it sound like he was planning to be at the Oklahoma game anyways so this is probably going to happen.

Essentially Flyertalk / Best tailor in Manhattan?
« on: October 05, 2011, 11:00:27 PM »
I'm attempting to step my wardrobe game up, and I'm in need of an amazing tailor that knows what in the hell he/she is doing.  Preferably I'd like it to be someone of European descent that doesn't speak very good english, but I'll take what I can get here in the flint hills.

Most of the stuff I've been picking out is from the UK (Paul Smith etc) and isn't available around here so it will most likely have to be altered along with a lot of what I have now.

Edit:  Would also like to know if anybody has had some custom shirts made?  I'm pretty sure Borck Brothers does it but I've never tried it.
