So, no one on our
« on: October 04, 2015, 08:53:33 AM »
Coaching staff, not the assistants, GA's or anyone noticed the eff up with the chains that gave OSU a first down?

5 million plus worth of coaches don't  notice that huge screw up?

Did LHC Bill Snyder actually shake hands with Gundy?  No one does anything when Shepard cheap shots our guys twice?

Sad

We still owe OSU/Gundy for Klein in '12.  Wish our guys hit the other team hard enough to even make the other team think we are trying to injure them.

The problem was in where the orange marker was put when it was 1st and 20.  The ball was being snapped from the right place.  FS1 had their yellow line and all their stats, STRAIGHT.  But that orange thing on our 40-yard-line was what everyone accepted as the point OSU needed to get to for a 1st down.

I'm in the process of viakoffman'n that whole thing, the end-of-1st-half mismanagement, and Gronk Pass.

and Gronk Pass.

Actually I'm doing that whole drive because it starts out lol w/the announcers questioning our offensive strategy, segues into Cook getting injured and concussion'd ass Bazooka Joe getting put back in and then onto the lol play sequences that followed.

Just rewatched
On first down los was 45, after long completion they reset the sticks wrong. The sticks were set on the 50 on 1st and 20.

They had 3 plays to correct it!

Noticed that as it happened. Got super duper mad about it but figured it had to just be a yellow line error. Now very mad.

P.S. Dax I love you but this thread title needs work.

Why were the sticks reset?  The long completion on first down had a flag on the play and the chain gang should have never moved. This is officiating and chain gang incompetence.

I'm assuming now that this has happened to K-State, there will be a series of new rules and regulations from the Big 12 and NCAA to keep them from ever happening again.

Honestly, would it have really mattered?  If the sticks were in the right place they will would have got it.

Totally agree with Dax. Everyone bitches about the refs, but this screw up is really on our coaches.

I mean it certainly did not cost us the game in any reasonable sense.

I agree with Cire that the chains should not have been moved after the holding penalty, except this is the Big XIi which moves fast so I am assuming the refs were trying to hurry down and move the chains before they realized it was a penalty call.  Once that happened they reset the chains wrong.

I disagree with Chingon's statement.  The ball was on the 39 with a 4th and 4.  If Gundy goes for it and does not get the first, he gives the Wildcats a short field with enough time to at least get in field goal range and put more points on the board.  I have no doubt that he would have attempted a field goal or worse for OSU punted the ball.  Either way we went into the half up by 8 instead of 12 or 15.  Yeah that was a costly mistake by the refs.

No dumb dumb, they wouldn't have a fourth down decision because they would have adjusted the route to get past the sticks.

What are you talking about?  It was a 23 yards for a first down.  If anything, Mason Rudolf would have needed to hold on to the ball that much longer, 2 plays after he had been sacked for a loss.  Did you not watch him wilt under pressure in Austin last week?

That was the best play he could make, which meant it would have been 4th and 4 at our 39, which meant Gundy would have decided to risk not making a 1st down and giving us time to march 50 yards to put Cantele in field goal range.  Gundy would not have taken that risk.
