Has St. Vincent been discussed, am going to go see that tonight.

Went to see it and was different than I expected, not as advertised.  Bill nailed his part, rest of the cast good.  First hour of whittie humor then ending on a more serious/feel good note.

Interstellar.  Intense, especially in IMAX.   Great score.     Kinda WTF at the final act.

Three hours of meh.  Production designer should have been fired.

birdman is pretentious bullshit and 2 hours i'll never get back  :curse:

Well, it's got a pretty good chance at winning Best Picture, so maybe you just have terrible taste in movies  :dunno:

yes. critics and actors love to fawn over pretentious bullshit made about themselves by themselves. this is nothing new.

dumbass.

I thought my post was obviously sarcastic, I guess it wasn't clear enough for you. I'll speak slower next time.

Merriam Webster

sarcasm - the use of words that mean the opposite of what you really want to say especially in order to insult someone, to show irritation, or to be funny

You see, on the surface I was saying that maybe j-dub had bad taste in movies because the critics all seemed to enjoy the movie and he did not. When in reality I was poking fun at such a position in an attempt to be humorous, because as j-dub pointed out, critics are a bunch of pretentious assholes that take themselves way too seriously. Maybe Spracne can weigh in, but I thought it was an appropriate usage of sarcasm. It's possible that I'm wrong.

Sarcasm is all about intent, so that's fine, provided what you said is true.  However, I don't think the purported sarcasm was all that obvious.

I am pretty pumped about the slate of Hallmark Christmas Movies I have loaded up in the ole DVR.  I think the next one will be The Nine Lives of Christmas.  Looks like a must-see for all of you feline fanciers out there!

Quote from: Synopsis
Fireman Zachary Stone (Routh) is a confirmed bachelor who doesn’t believe in love or commitment. When a stray tabby cat named Ambrose shows up at his door, Zachary takes him in and slowly starts to see that a little companionship might not be so bad after all. Zachary’s commitment to solitude is further challenged when he meets Marilee (Sustad), an animal lover and veterinary student who teaches Zachary how to care for his new feline roommate. Chemistry immediately develops between the two, but will they find a way together despite themselves?

Sounds purrrrrfectly romantic!

So the truth of the premise is not in question.  What is in question, however, is whether or not the truth of the premise guarantees the truth of the conclusion.  It does not. #sarcasm #trope

The problem was that it wasn't rough ridin' funny.  It was a crap joke, sarcasm or no.

The Cable Guy is such a great movie. The pinnacle of Jim Carrey's career if you ask me.

Interstellar.  Intense, especially in IMAX.   Great score.     Kinda WTF at the final act.

Very enjoyable, very much physics-oriented.  Finale was a tad implausible.
