this is actually a great suggestion but kind of cost prohibitive.

honestly you should really just get a reliable snow removal guy and pay him to make sure your crap is given priority and that you're not waiting a day after it snows for him to show up.

i'd guess you would need him 4 times a year, much cheaper and easier than using a snow blower and storing the thing

It actually doesn't have to be cost prohibitive if the rest of the house is geo and the incremental cost is financed for a new construction scenario. The utility savings cash flow no problem at today's rates.

Next topic. I need dirt to fill in some areas next to the house that have been eroded by water run off that i've neglected to fix. How do I get dirt to fill that in? Can you just buy bags of dirt somewhere? Can you get it delivered? TIA, i'll hang up and listen.

You can buy top soil at walmart. If you need more than several bags, get a pickup and go to a nursery and get bulk soil. Also, get pulverized black dirt. If not pulverized, it comes in huge chunks that are a mother rough rider to break up and spread.

So I can just dump the dirt on the area it needs to be dumped and forget about it? Anything else I need to do?

meiers in topeka will deliver black dirt by the ton (nursery's will probably be better if you need smaller amounts). 1 ton will cover about 100sqft at 2" thick. if you need less than a ton, then go with CNS advice

How deep of an area is It? If it is 6" or less, you should be fi e doing notuch more than that. I mean, compact it withnyour foot and o iirc le it just a small amt higher than you want it to eventuallt end up and it will settle. If you want grass, seed it now (best time of year is right now).

If you have no clue how much you need, call the nursery and tell them your mesurements of where it is needed and they will calc for you.

be prepared for corncobs etc. Skinner's also does topsoil delivery.

Most sand pits will also have topsoil as well. If they offer the stuff that has been through a shredder, buy that.
