it's "stilts," fellas. "steel" doesn't make any sense.
I have a coworker that says "steel" like "still", also says "deal" like "dill".
Just the other day she said, "What's the dill with the still?!?!?!?!?!?"
DLew'y, maybe you and her are long lost hayseed relatives of some sort?!?!
I can verify this dialect -- my experience with it is in tribal lands just north and east of MHK.

My buddies at work and I have way too much imitating her way of talking.
I sit right in front of her and the other day she was on the phone with a gentleman named Dave. She said, "Well the "still" will be here in 2018. By the way, Dave are you STILL thinking you are going to be around by then."
She said steel and still in the same sentence the exact same way. Very odd way of talking.
