Clearly got jobbed by the scab refs, but...
1. SKC pretty consistently, the last 3 or 4 seasons or so, has had a very hard time managing the last end of one goal matches. We were a mess the last 15 minutes of that match. We also spend far too much time shithousing and time wasting and it's very frustrating. Good teams don't struggle to close these matches out and we always seem to play them like we're missing a one goal lead against Real Madrid instead of Philadelphia United.
2. The front three have been not just okay, but horrible the first two matches.
3. It's not like we haven't seen the real MLS refs bungle a finish lot that a million times. Yeah, the current refs are scabs, but if the refs on strike are holding out for less accountability, then let them continue to sit.

The staff shakeup is definitely #2 on the things to watch. #1 is whether Daniels will be healthy for the actual conference portion of the season. He's looked great against inferior teams but despite being there like 3 seasons now he's more of an unknown than Avery is.

Based purely on recruiting rankings, their QB room is pretty bad with the exception of their incoming true freshman. But, even if their next-in-line QB outperforms the rankings, there's nobody near Bean's capabilities to save them if Daniels goes down again.

This may not be the place, but that reminds me to ask about the gameworthiness of Barnett, Knuth, and Simoncic if AJ gets hurt?

I believe the plan this off season is for AJ to put in between 90 - 115 lbs

pfft

I'm gonna call my shot now. We'll get back in the top 16 and get to play the first two rounds at home

Modern medicine is marvelous.
if only more people were able to benefit from it.

the corruption in our government that has allowed the health care system in the US to be exploited to the extent that it has will be looked upon very poorly by our decedants

A little late, but....
Like it or not, Guns are politicized, Don't politicize a tragedy is always the comment after a shooting but that is to try to change the subject that we are really the only country where this happens in the civilized world...but hey look at the GOP, they've practically sexualized guns, send them out on Christmas cards, and wear AR-15 Lapel pins.

Just finished listening to a podcast from Jason Kander. It's time to reframe this conversation. What I found both intriguing and hopeful from this podcast was about the history of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, PLCAA, and how repealing PLCAA could turn the corner on gun control in this country. That being said, I harbor no faith that the Dems would get this done if they took Congress and maintained the white house, after all, they had the chance to repeal this under Obama, as they also had the chance to codify Roe. Anyway, I found this very interesting. Everything before 27:00 is background on Kander, 27:00 and after is talk about PLCAA and how the gun companies could be forced to reform.

Not getting anything from Gabby is really hurting us. This was supposed to be a big three but it's really a big 1 3/4. Luckily there's 10 days between the Big 12 Championship game and the first day of the tournament. This team is beat to hell, more than standard for a basketball team.

I'm no expert but I wouldn't be surprised at all if she makes more in NIL than she would in the WNBA

That isn't accurate. She isn't making a ton off of NIL nor would she make a lot in the W, $60,000. Her endorsements are largely national brands and she would carry those with her. Where NIL helps her the most is that she can be paid to see her clients now. Believe it or not before NIL legislation, she would not be able to be a counselor, definitely not get paid to do so.

The money is small either way, if money was a factor she'll just quit playing at the end of this season and go to work. If she comes back it will be to win titles. If she opts to try the W it's because she still loves to play and wants to try against the best in the world.

Anybody hear rumors that Yoky might come back next year? Is she even eligible? MIR? Would be increds.
She is eligible, there's no scuttlebutt as to what she's going to decide to do. She's already practicing as a family counselor, so I'm not taking that as a great sign she's coming back. Her injury history doesn't make her a WNBA sure thing. I doubt that she makes her mind up and makes an announcement before April.

That was my point with the ncaa tourney. Every non P2 conference could tell the ncaa and the P2 to eff off and start it's own basketball tourney. It would miss some P2 teams, but overall it would be the premier tournament.

I do wonder about the dynamic of doing this if the SEC and Big 10 tries to bully the ACC and Big 12 in the CFP. There's the factor of the basketball tournaments being NCAA events and the CFP isn't. In addition to that, those two still have autonomous rights along with the Big 12, ACC, and Pac 2.

The sport might implode, literally right in front of us. Greg Sankey is a straight piece of crap. I don't know why the other commissioners and Notre Dame would agree to this. Call their bluff, they're trying to cut everyone else out of the sport anyway. Frankly, I'd rather win a national championship in a sub division than to beg these motherfuckers for scraps and never ever have a shot because the playing field is so uneven.

Which seeds get to host?

16 teams host the first round, top 4 seed each section of the bracket

If you think we aren’t losing out the rest of the season you are indeed bullish on this hoops squad

Still melting down?

They're hell bent on destroying the sport. How do they not realize that they're risking fewer fans, which means less revenue, by grabbing all the money that they can while telling 60% of the sport that they don't matter as much.

Also, sounds from the article that they are willing to decouple from the bowls for the playoffs, at least a little bit.  That would be wonderful.  The grifters in charge of bowls add zero value to the process.

ESPN runs the bowls now, that's exactly why they aren't going anywhere. Those bowls are among the most watched programming on their family of networks, each year.

How much does March madness generate?

NCAA Championships generate just over a billion dollars a year, of course most of that is the mens basketball tournament.

can’t imagine there’ll be much going, league seasons all mostly end in May and Euros tournament (all the countries playing each other, mini World Cup just only Europe) happening in Germany June/July and everyone will be going crazy for that

Yeah stupid fitz. If you're in Lisbon or Porto when Portugal is playing in Euro 2024 you can go to one of their watch parties, in some ways it could be better than going to a match.

I'm surprised by the lack of talk around True Detective this season. I've enjoyed this season but there's a lot riding on tonight's finale. I feel like there's been a lot of build up with little to show for it so far so we'll see how they handle it tonight.

Probably because it's rough ridin' terrible. Legit one of the biggest pieces of crap hbo has ever put out.

Haven't watched the finale yet, but I've been really bored with the season, keep thinking I'm missing something

Pete, you and I don't see a lot of these business of college sports issues the same way. This is one where I think we'll find some common ground. This is real bad.

With their expansion of some of college football’s biggest brands, the SEC and Big Ten are expected to seek a bigger cut of the revenue pie as well as a governance structure that grants them more autonomy.

I'm not yet at the point of too much of a good thing yet when it comes to the NCAA tournament.  The reasons he gives are silly and speak to not wanting to change something that might need to be changed, only because it's comfortable. The tournament hasn't grown at the same rate of the sport and stunting that growth only because we're used to a 64 team bracket, is really dumb.

The problem for me isn't an expanded tournament, it's that they're going to expand the tournament while minimizing the involvement of the non power conferences. The expansion will come with something stupid like a play in tournament comprised solely of 1 bid conferences, played on home courts to minimize costs.

Does anyone know what the ACC's network pay is per contract with ESPN?  If you guessed $8 million per school per year you are correct.  The rest of their annual payment is a combined total of the ACC network pay, bowl games, and CFP money.  That gets them to the mid 30s with only an increase of 4% annually.  LOL No wonder FSU is jelly of UCF.  If anyone thinks they won't hop on over the Big XII if BY will take them just does know much about Athletic Department greed.

The ACC has both a grant of rights, and a flat exit fee of "three times the league's operating budget" which is currently $130M, which run through 2036.

FSU will only leave when (Revenue from new conference) + (Private donations) => (GOR) + (Exit Fee).

I suppose (Revenue from new conference) could include a signing bonus or something to help FSU offset the cost of their ACC GOR, for example.  I doubt that the big 10 or SEC will be willing to pay to get FSU...I'd think they both would like to have them, but it seems far fetched to think that they would bend over backwards to do so.  I think it's unlikely that the Big 12 membership would agree to take less money in order to fund a get out of jail fee for FSU.

So, my bet is that FSU is stuck where they are until they have private donations >= $130M, AND GOR has only a small number of years left on it.  My guess is that FSU leaves the ACC around 2034 or so.

I can't imagine what college athletics will look like then. Maybe they'll have a conference that wants them by then?

It certainly seems like more than two people should be in jail.

My city spidey sense was immediately going off, you see a bunch of teens start woofing like that, it's definitely time to move along and not take a selfie with your kid.

So looking at this video, I'm assuming most of the minors who were treated at children's mercy were these dumbfucks shooting at each other? I certainly hope that's the case and not a bunch of kids who were just minding their business.

Curb has been really good, the angle this season is fantastic. The new curb rewatch podcast with Jeff and Suzie is a good reason to either restart curb or start it for the first time and follow along with the podcast. The very first episode of the series, The Pants Tent, was as funny as a 30 minutes of programming that I can remember in some time.

My dad thinks the part where he had the pube stuck in his throat is the funniest thing ever on TV.

Oh man, yes!
