I've never broken/torn anything.

Hard to injure yourself when you sit on your fat @$$ all day typing on the interwebs.

I'm sorry....it's the pain talking.  I love you man.

Mix the pills with bourbon. I hear it works alot better.

did you get morphine?  if not, you may still have time.  act like the pain is way worse than it is.  call whatever number you have late at night, or maybe just drive to the hospital.

unless he's got an allergy to it, morphine is standard post-op for ACL reconstruction.  he got it.

For those of you who have torn up your knees, how did it occur?  I'd like to try to avoid it, as I would like to continue skiing and playing hoops as long as possible.  Oh, and the whole surgery/PT thing sounds like it would be nice to avoid.

TIA.

Slight tear to a ligament once. Occurred while standing still. Good luck.

Dude came over my back on a rebound and landed on my head and shoulders.  Knee bent sideways and popped the MCL, ACL, and meniscus.  Nothing I could have done other than not rebound.

BTW, let me just say that day 1 and 2 post knee surgery were the worst two days of my entire life.  It gets better after that, but good lawd, I was wondering what I had done.  Not cool.  At least the Khatz took care of business on Saturday, at least I think they did, iirc.

Damn dude, what this time?

PS - Late to the game.  Tore my left ACL/meniscus soph. year of HS playing soccer, then tore my right ACL/LCL/meniscus my junior year doing the same.  Managed to still play my senior year, but now pretty much am a lazy ass.  No skiing blows.  :frown:

Tore cartilage in my knee. Could actually feel crap floating around. They did one surgery to get it out. Well about 3 months later, more crap was floating around. So they went in all harcore and implanted some cartilage directly into my bone. Couldn't put weight on it for 6 weeks. PT was the crappiest. Gave up on sports after that. Everything seems OK now though.

Good luck. Friend of mine blew her knee up skiing this past winter. they think she is going to have to have another surgery for scar tissue in 6 months.

I've had two scopes.  One was bad. The other I came back too quickly from...  have some lingering issues(not bad). A few weeks ago i  went to the doctor and they told me I'm starting to get arthritis in my knee.  It was one of those somber mortality moments.  Currently, on day two of working out again and got fitted for expensive fancy running shoes which they thought might fix the swelling.  Now, I'm completely forgetting about arthritis and gonna pound the crap out of my knee.
