Diarra
« on: March 18, 2018, 11:56:46 PM »
I'll start by saying I'm a fan. I'll follow up by asking if anyone else thinks that when he's taking the ball up the court or just dribbling it up top, he's half thinking that he's playing in a basketball game and deciding what to do next and half trying to figure out the perfect chipotle order? It's like he's there, but only kind of.

I'm not a doctor, but I am going to sideline diagnose him with ADHD and say that he needs to be medicated. It's bizarre. Like maybe there's someone in the crowd that he's trying to find when he's dribbling. Like someone told him before the game that he had to find an old high school teammate in the stands during the game or that high school player would die but the only time he was allowed to look around was when he was actively dribbling the ball. Again, I'm a fan.

Not a point guard*

I know this seems contradictory given what I posted about McGuirl in the Kam thread

It's just how disinterested he seems in the whole thing. Like, sneed isn't a pg either but god damn if he doesn't at least pay attention to dribbling the ball while he is actually dribbling the ball. Diarra has some kind of actual disorder. It's like dribbling the ball is the third third or fourth most important thing to him at the time. Like he's having a conversation with someone but he's more interested in a person walking by or a tv in the corner  Again, I like him.

Nantz pronounced it correctly. I had to listen to Kevin Kugler for about 15 minutes and I didn't notice him mispronouncing Diarra's name.

Meh, personalities are hard to measure without knowing someone; likewise, a 'competitive' or 'intense' person is hard to measure until you've gone toe-to-toe with someone.  I agree he seems to lose focus at times and needs to take better care of the ball, but that could be just age and time in the game.  If I remember correctly, he has only been playing organized basketball for a handful of years and of course missed all of last year.  I am excited for his potential and really glad that he's stepped into major role after Stokes went down.

Consider some of these freshman stats:
Cartier Diarra: 71 assists and 68 turnovers
Kam Stokes: 57 assists and 44 turnovers
The Flush: 50 assists and 50 turnovers
Wes Westicles: 61 assists and 42 turnovers
Mart Irving: 24 assists and 15 turnovers
Will Spradling: 63 assists and 40 turnovers
Angel Rodriguez: 101 assists and 85 turnovers

Clearly Diarra needs to improve his decision making, but its not like he is massively behind some of our previous ball handlers.

JAH DAH. I love having a bunch of combos to throw out there. JAH DAH is probably is probably more of a 2/3, but he can handle it a bit.

It looks like he has his cellphone back at the bench and he thinks he hears it ringing and is straining to hear it and also trying to dribble/pass the ball.

I think maybe he used to do ballet, because every rough ridin' announcer on every game likes to reference it.

JAH DAH is pretty chill. I like it most of the time, but sometimes it catches up with him. I will admit, I yelled some very unkind things at the TV when he got ripped in the last few minutes last night.

Diarra is my fav cat this year, you guys.

His casual chipolte-wondering approach is wonderful.  I bet he is a chorizo and chicken guy.
