KU lost.  Gonna slip to 12.  Bombshell Billy won't play.  This is fun.  I will say self doesn't make excuses though.

I have been wondering who KU has that can create their own shot off the dribble or drive the middle off the dribble like Mason and Jackson both did for them last year.
They have some good players who can really shoot but they did last year too.  And yet, they would have lost more games last year if not for Mason taking the ball the last 5 minutes of the game and driving the middle for a contested shot at the rim that he either made or got fouled on.  Who do they have that can do that this ?

I haven't watched 1 minute of ku basketball this season,
But from looking at the box score and recognizing a few names, it appears they have no bench to speak of and their starters are all role players.

It still blows my rough ridin' mind that devonte graham was preseason poy.

Their starters are all good but playing out of position.  The  forward position is manned by Vick.  Newman is playing the two but has not played well this year.  Graham is playing OK at point guard but can't take it to the rim like Mason could.  The big guy at center is a threat due to lobs and rebounding but has not developed his post game yet.
They have a good freshman guard coming off the bench and thats about it.  Lightfoot and a 6 ft 6 walk on are providing depth at the post.
If their guards are hitting from three and a team does not defend it really well, they are really good.  Last night Washington had their zone guard the three point line and give Vick open shots in the lane.  He didn't hit enough of them.

Self will be working overtime to get Sousa qualified for second semester and get Preston a bicycle.  They will also have a 6ft6 transfer from USC joining the rotation second semester.

They have a bunch of super athletic dudes that can/are played at multiple positions. They also don't have people with real basketball size. The team can move the ball and score a lot (only if the baskets go). Teams that play fundamental basketball well will against this.

You can see this with how Florida lost last night.

Hell no.  Hell no.  If Billy Bombshell or De Saliva comes to play, they might have a chance.  King Clog fouls too much and all they have left to play post is WhiteSpaz and Walkon Runtclay.

In Reno's defense, if you have watched KU play, his nicnames are totally obvious by how their guys play.

Dal, Billy Preston was labeled as a bombshell recruit who was going to blow up the Big 12.   Good player, but a lousy car owner, still not resolved.  I think someone gave him a car.  There is another kid a DE Sousa (Silva?) Who is trying to get qualified for the 2nd semester.  This guy is a mangler.  So if these two can play, Jayhawk wins big.  I don't think this will happen.  Cundiff will help some.  Abizukee  is supposed to clog up the paint and rebound, go King Kong style (King Clog). He just fouls and sits on the watching Clay Young (runt) or Whitefoot playing his position.

They will until they can't keep cashing in on 8-1/9-0 conference home records anymore.

Yawn.

This discussion occurs every year when Self and his boys under perform in some OOC game and we all declare them vulnerable.

Then they win the league.

I'll believe it when I see it. Self is the best coach with the best players, if the bet was KU vs the field I'd take KU every time at this point in my life.

I mean he's the best coach in B12 history (in any sport).  Why would you bet against him?

Washington may be on a tremendous upswing but this loss might make a run at the 2013 TCU loss for Self's worst at KU - Washington's second best win right now is UC-Davis.

No doubt, its a bad loss, but its not even close to that TCU game. That one is one of the biggest upsets in modern college basketball history.

I remember going to work that morning and getting to the breakroom and hearing someone go "yeah, it's crazy, they finally lost 2 games in a row" and I didn't need to know who he was talking, about, that was it, but I was stunned regardless and couldn't help but blurt out "KU LOST, TO TCU?"

Doesn’t KU have like three players waiting in the wings to become eligible next semester? If so they’ll be fine.
