#big12 Baylor adv stats (terrible)
« on: March 08, 2012, 03:38:48 PM »
1st   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   31   1.15   55.8%   22.4%   40.0%   34.6%
Opp   31   1.44   58.8%   16.0%   52.9%   20.6%

2nd   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   33   1.15   51.7%   18.2%   37.5%   34.5%
Opp   33   1.12   64.6%   27.3%   40.0%   37.5%

Total   Pace   PPP   eFG%   TO%   OR%   FTR
KSU   65   1.14   53.6%   20.1%   38.7%   34.5%
Opp   65   1.27   61.2%   21.6%   48.1%   27.6%

Its simple; this was the third worst defensive efficiency game of the Frank Martin era. The 12th worst eFG% given up. The 7th worst OR% given up.

Offensively it wasn't good, but it was enough to win, but you can't consistently allow Baylor the combination of that many easy shots and that many extra opportunities on offense and expect to win.

I give JO credit for showing up, but overall just a terrible performance. Hopefully next Thurs/Fri we see something better, because that wasn't just bad, that was embarrassing.

And congrats to Scott Drew for realizing there is at least one team in America he can play man defense against.

1.14 ppp, 53.6 eFG%, TO% right at 20...... plenty of good enough on offense.   Now 62-2 under Frank when we have a ppp of 1.12 or greater :embarrassed:

The first half Def OR% of 52.9.    That translated to 15 2nd chance pts.   On 7 of their 31 first half possessions, we let them get an OR.   They ended up scoring on 6 of those 7 possession when they got the OR (2 3pt shots and 1 3-point play).

28-40 2pt FG Def

*** The FFF statty stat stat of the game =   JO 14 rebounds (36 minutes)  Everyone else 10 rebounds (164 minutes).
The stat says it all on who gave effort and who did not.    Tay did have 3 of those 10 boards, so props to 2 guys for caring about reb. today

To just demonstrate how BAD our Def was all day......

Baylor scoring in 5 minute incriments =
first 5 min = 8 pts
2nd 5 min = 13 pts
3rd 5 min = 14 pts
4th 5 min = 10 pts
1st half = 45 pts

5th 5 min = 8
6th 5 min = 14
7th 5 min =10
8th 5 min =5

Only the last 5 minutes were they not real effecient.   Every other 5 minute incriment, they had at least 8pts (or 1.6 pts/per min).
We could not go on a run because we did not have that stretch in the game where we hold them to 6 pts in a 7-8 minute stretch or scoreless for 3:30 minutes or something

Not to step on anyone's toes, but I believe the "Statty Stat Stat" of this game comes from JO, who is  shooting 54.9 percent from the floor after today's explosion.  :emawkid:

He's hitting 52.2 percent from the FT line for the season.  :sdeek:

Baylor is so good when they play with that kinda confidence, Have too many players that can beat you one on one. Needed to force more turnovers, O well just one of those days.

JO shooting 55% is good, don't get me wrong..... but i think a 7 footer should be around that mark.   Gipson shot 55% in conf play

Just trying to find a unique stat in each game (if there is one) and JO having more rebounds than the rest of our team is unique.  Its not a good stat, but we played poorly today and that stat is a big illustration of why.

I was going for the body of work. The disparity between FG% and FT% was the kicker. Probably not that unusual for bigs, but funny.
