A little look back at a few things from the first half....
1) Cain Hos Mo Salvy spent a lot of time hitting in the 3-6 spots. They combined for .283 Ave and .463 Slug. Last year the combo of Cain Hos Mo Moose hit .295 with a .471 Slug.
We don't have a #2 hitter like Zoby , so that's why I said we should hit those 4 guys in th 2-5 spots behind Whit. Since Whit starting hitting 1-2 in the lineup, Esky Gordo and Colon have only hit .197 in the 1-2 spots. That's part of the reason the offense has had issues.
2) Paulo Esky and Cuthbert will likely see a lot of ABs in the 6-9 spots in the lineup. They combined for a .283 Average. Neither draw many walks, but that's a good Ave from the back part of the lineup. Dyson with his .327 OBP and speed also solid for a 8-9 hitter.
3) Bullpen HSHD was really good. Herrera had 41 Appearances, Soria 39, Hoch 36, Wader 30. I think if you can be good 95% of your appearances, then you are doing a good/great job. I do want to see Soria/Hoch both have ERAs under 2.50 the 2nd half.
*Take out Soria first game and the game he gave up 2 runs where Paulo made 2 late blunders, Jack's ERA is 2.15 ( that's good).
*Take out Hoch 2 rough appearances where he gave up 3 runs, and his ERA is 1.69 only allowing 19 hits in 32.0 Inn (real good)
* Herrera gave up 2 runs 2x. Without those his ERA is 0.94 (fantastic). Only 7 BB in 40.2 Inn
* Wader gave up 2 runs to Atl. He only allowed 2 ER 15 Hits in 28.1 in his other 29 outings
4) Gee Wang Flynn Moylan CY and Alexander where the main guys that did long relief and middle inning relief. They combined for a 3.12 ERA in almost 136 Innings. Those are pretty good numbers. I would take ERA at 3.00 or just above in the 2nd half in a heartbeat
5) Starting pitching was a disaster. We still have no clue who will be the #5 starter. A small glimpse of hope is this from the #1-4 starters. Volkie had a train wreck of a start vs Houston. Haven't seen that in his 1.5 years. Take out that start and since June 11, the 4 starters have a 3.59 ERA in 21 starts.
If we have hope of approaching 90 wins, those 4 starters really need to be 3.50-3.75 in the 2nd half.
