I think ben ji's dad might have missed a few expenses when he calculated that profit margin.

45 x 48 concrete pad for barn.  How thick should I make it and how many yards will that be?

Are you parking equipment on it?

I would suggest 6", or maybe even 8" depending on the size of equip you'll be putting on it, with WWF reinforcing.  Maybe one of our resident structural engineers could chime in here.  6" would be 40 yds.  8" would be 54 yards.

Equipment would be skid steer and attachment.  The restored 4020 and a couple trailers.

6" slabs with steel in sheds/shops and they hold up real well. Biggest thing is the base/subgrade. I would do 4-6" of a sand/gravel/crushed limestone and make sure you compact it well. I also am a believer in pouring a nice drive apron at the door as well.

Yes, 6" should be sufficient and EMAWican is correct about the importance of your subgrade.  If using WWF (wire mesh) reinforcing, make sure it is 6"x6" and a heavier, paving grade like W4.7xW4.7.  Also, when you cut your concrete, don't go any bigger than 12'x12' panels and cut about 1 1/2" deep for 6" paving.

Went to the farm to hang out with my pretend farmer dad. Currently drinking a beer outside(my dad splurged for wifi) just exhausted, don't know how anyone can do this 24/7 365.

Started the day off feeding the barn cats!

Lady got some too!

Then we went and drove around the pasture and saw a coyote making a break for the crick! Guess what? There is actually alot of water in it because it kind of rained this year!

Break time after that, BLT'S for lunch then attempted to weed my dad's "Garden". In reality he didn't even till it, just planted tomatoes and other stuff and ran soaker hoses.

The grass was taller than the garden plants but I did the best I could.

The incenerator was full so I emptied it into tubs for them to dump somewhere. This was actually hard and gross work for like 30 minutes.
