I setup a new windows 7 install yesterday, and after 200 "important upgrades" I haven't got the upgrade box to appear yet.

do you have Windows 7 with SP 1? you have to have it and it has to be completely up to date

I had to do like 1.25GB worth of updates before it finally showed up for me

3 or 4 more update/restart cycles

realizing I never authenticated windows

2 more update/restarts.....

and finally reserved the upgrade.

now I assume I'll wait for weeks to get the actual upgrade since i'm so late to the party on this machine.

I don't like the apple v. pc debate because both are good at some things and each are better for certain types of people but my macbook pro upgraded to the new Yosemite beta is and it's super fast and easy and I didn't have to deal with all of that and it was good.

download whichever version(32 or 64-bit, 97% sure you have 64-bit) corresponds to your system

Sadly it's a 32 bit machine.  a leftover from when we replaced all our XP machines with 7 machines.  At least this one has decent specs.

But i'll take a look at that.

Actually let me create an install usb drive that will handle both 32 and 64bit.  Thanks!

Yeah I read that people hate it because it is spying on them (well I didn't really read the whole article).

It is like in Kingsmen when Samuel L. Jackson made everyone kill each other by using the free phone service he had given the whole world.

I want nothing to do with Win10 on my work pc and have never reserved anything... but that hasn't stopped it from trying. Biggest issue is we have over 100 PCs on pretty limited bandwidth, so this should be fun to deal with tomorrow.

Does anyone here use Windows Powershell? Am I going to have to get an old version to be able to run on Windows XP? Is that even possible?
