This changed very quickly to a pissing contest where one person doesnt care and the other losers forgot to unzip first. The need for self validating in here is unreal.

For the record, about 3 years ago, the CIS department started offering a Software Engineering degree.  They now offer 3 degrees, Computer Science, Information Systems, and Software Engineering.  CS and SE are very similar from what i can glean looking at the course load, just less intensive coding work and more documentation/high level design work.

I think the SE degree is masters only. They tried to get ECE and CIS to collaborate on an undergrad SE degree a few years ago, and they are apparently hoping that with phase iv, now with these two depts a floor apart, hopefully something works out

There was a handful of interdepartmental courses offered when i was getting my undergrad.  Dr. Lehnhert (sp?) had a pet-project minor for Embedded systems that was half CE half CS classes but it was discontinued when he retired in 2008... actually it looks like its still offered

Embedded Systems with CS Degree

    Technical Electives: CIS 621, 622, 721, EECE 633 (6 hours total)
Unrestricted Electives: EECE 431, 733 (6 hours total)

But SE is offered as an undergrad as a specialization track of the BS CS, same as the masters program

Right, it's a specialization. just like how kstate doesn't actually have a nuke engg degree program. It's just a 5 course specialization of ME. The degree is still mech engg, but says nuclear option. I knew it was a specialization, but it's just not an actual degree offered at Kansas state.

Its not treated that way, exactly.  They have divergent requirements.  But i don't know, they started offering it after i was out of there.

Wow, had no idea the engineers were snobby like that. Or that anyone would bother to differentiate between CS and SE.

If I got one of these intel windows 8.1 sticks would it be a POS?  I want to use my TV as a second desktop.

To understand what recursion is, you must first understand recursion.

I hadn't heard of these until now. I would assume that it works like the Chromecast and if it does, then don't do it. I don't think that type of wireless technology is up to par yet and you could have a bunch of performance issues. I have a Chromecast and it is near impossible to stream games from my laptop.

It's essentially the guts of a computer in something the size of a flash drive that uses what you plug it into as a monitor.  I don't think it will be streaming anything but would use wifi to connect to Internet i guess.  I currently use my chrome cast with an android tablet with Bluetooth mouse and keyboard right now but it's kind of weird.
