i'm going to do a nu-metal top 10 since metalhead's is going to be all old school crappy metal

i don't know that i really consider nu-metal a subgenre of metal, i kinda think of them separately? :dunno:

nu-metal was like 5 years of absolute garbage music in the early 2000s, but on the bright side there were a few good songs/albums to come out of there.

disturbed
slipknot
godsmack
system of a down
drowning pool
etc.

pantera never really did it for me. too much dead weight. if there was a pantera best-of album i would probably include it as an HM

a young rick daris and a young limestone used to listen to pantera on the way to get ppan pizzas and mountain waters at aggieville p-hut in highschool.

the thing about nu-metal is, anybody in the world can play guitar in a nu-metal band. just drop that crap into drop C and put your middle finger across the lower three strings and move around for about 2 minutes and 58 seconds and you've got yourself a catchy nu-metal track

I would nominate Raining Blood as a top ten song
 however
Reign in Blood has too much uncomfortable nazi stuff for me to nominate it as an album.

ITT: grown men discussing nu-metal as a valid musical genre in 2013.

i've never been more profoundly embarrassed to be a KSU fan, and that's saying a lot this season. this thread has forced me to come out of hiding from long-time lurking status and enter the realm of douchey first poster.    :dubious:

so, saying that nu-metal is garbage is too much? we just can't even acknowledge that it ever existed?

What's Norma Jean, The Chariot, and old Atreyu considered? Because it's nothing like Slipknot and the other nu-metal examples that you guys are giving.

If you are gonna do a top 10 metal thread, you might as well include all declared forms of metal so you can spot all the dweebs who listened to avenge sevenfold.

Well, Slipknot's first album came out in 1999 and Atreyu's first album came out in 2002, so that can't be true.

this feels like a safe place to admit I love rammstein and would nominate it into a top ten list

oh my god george washington was born in 1732 and thomas jefferson was born in 1743 so they both definitely can't be founding fathers i guess
