I had a fantastic time in Ireland.  Great place to go with buds and check out neighborhood bars and restaurants.  Catch a rugby, Gaelic football, or hurling match. Did almost zero sightseeing other than Jameson tour.  Might not be everyone's favorite, but I really enjoyed the people there.

 I feel like I could save Ireland for a Fanning Family trip and go do all the ancestry, castle, pubs, etc. stuff another time. Although, it's still #1 on the bucket list. My uncles really into that stuff and it would probably mean more.

Europe over the holidays seems like a blast and it would be pretty relaxing for once.

Just catching up on this thread, but 8mp is absolutely correct. I went to Ireland in August and had a blast. The pubs and people are a lot of fun, and the countryside is beautiful.

Don't go in December tho because the weather will be crap. Also, the country's culture is definitely enhanced by drinking so if Mrs. Wacky cannot partake in that then she probably won't have as much fun.

Yeah, we keep getting told not to go in December due to the weather. Also, Mrs. Wacky isn't pregos yet, so she'd be able to party on this trip.

Apparently trying to plan a last second trip to Europe over the holidays cost way more than I was expecting. I think we might just do Cabo now and call it a day. Anyone ever been?

never been to Cabo, have friends who have.    There are 2 Cabos, so make sure you're staying in the part you want to be, one is rougher.   We love the Pacific side, while there aren't white sand beach and green waters, it's a fantastic place.

Knowing there's a good side was the helpful part for me, but ya, it was confusing.

You're telling me. Now we're trying to talk ourselves out of Cabo since there's been a crap ton of homicides around there lately. Watch us end up in Vail instead. :curse:

Wacky, stay-cations are quite popular these days. Always an option, imo

Iceland has a great package right now, but it's rough ridin' Iceland. Also a pretty good deal out there for Amsterdam. Fly to Amsterdam, rent a car, and wing it? :dunno:

You have listed several great destinations, but December is a less than ideal time to visit them.

Fanman, you may want to research the ‘driving on the other side of the road’ thing before you hop overseas.
