Title: Retro-Arcade
Post by: hatingfrancisco on September 29, 2017, 09:26:34 AM
I'm getting ready to build myself one of these bad boys:

Mine, of course, is going to be Wildcat themed.

Anyone else tackled one of these before?

No, but if you can just make me one two that'd be great

What are you using to emulate? Raspberry Pi?

Yeah, thats the plan.  With the retro-pi image.

I was going to piece this out but I found this site:

https://gameroomsolutions.com/

Looks like I can get all the pieces from them (minus the monitor) for around 400.00

I may go with the Deluxe kit with all the guts and graphics (minus the 22" monitor) looks to be around 600.00

I'm definitely going with the chrome T-molding and probably the white led buttons and clear led joysticks.

I need some quality gE msPaint experts to mock this up for me though:

It's going to have a k-state theme:

probably something like this on the sides and back:

purple joysticks:

Seems like a fun project.  The amount of things you can do with a raspberry pi is incredible

Does it make you feel any better to know that your $50 donation (my eventual fantasy football winnings) will go to fund this project?   :billdance:

I bet there is a spot for that.  and I am thinking this for 1 and 2 player buttons:

i like the kstate0 idea but maybe a video board that plays catlab videos on a loop would be better

have the emulators gotten way better? last time I used/installed one was probably 08 or 09. think it was project 64 wasn't bad but definitely had its hiccups

RetroPie is really nice. You can emulate just about anything if you have a nice enough PC. A raspberry pi will work really well for anything up the the SNES, but if you want to emulate PS1 or N64 games, it gets a little iffy. The next model will probably perform better, and I think the aim is to keep it priced around $35, but I don't think it comes out until 2019.

Well, playing with retro pie has been fun.  Especially finding the updated versions of Super Tecmo Bowl(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171007/0a00d9bd638fc84b9ae0cee3012f40c0.jpg)

I think for 45 bucks it's worth a shot.  Some of the reviews are pretty LOL.

I think that’s actually a PSP and $45 is a pretty big steal

it's definitely a knock off.  Probably a psp shell with a raspberry pie-zero inside.

It probably has buttons that will stop working correctly after a few hours of use.
