It's just so predictable of you to bitch about the slightest things Dax. I just think it's a sad way to live. I worry about you.

Who is bitching?  Again, everything short of calling it a "homerun hire" is "bitching" in Tuck World.

First off Oscar is more of a chicken nuggets guy. chicken nuggets and soft serve are not the same thing Wacky...

Well WackyTuck, I know you never look at things from a business perspective.   But if what he did at NDSU was so incredible.  Why did he go to a nice, safe 2nd in command job at Iowa?

Tons of full time D1 jobs at FBS mid majors have been open over the last 5 years, schools with 3x the budget of NDSU.  instead, the 55 year old takes the extremely safe chief paper pusher/guy in charge of the grunt work at Iowa job?   Kind of sounds like a guy looking to ride a nice 4-500k a year job into retirement, possibly?

That's kind a weird career path for a guy who reportedly built a monster and supposedly raised a bunch of money for a school like NDSU.

If it makes you feel better I'll call it a double with a long hard look at trying to stretch it into a triple.

I would imagine it has a lot to do with his age and people don't respect FCS no matter how well they do.

I can't remember this guy's name, and really, it would mean great things if I never end up remembering it.  My hope is that he slowly and subtly gets KSU to stop doing embarrassing stuff, and hires and fires good coaches, does and doesn't do things that help them succeed, and just stays in the background because the winning is what's getting paid attention to.

What's the hope thing that D.Scott's always babbling about?

it would be pretty difficult to make a risky AD hire unless you were intentionally trying to do so imo

Bill isn't involved in this process

I'm not entirely sure about that. we had a committee that narrowed it down and then sent it to myers and I'm pretty sure that myers, wefald and Snyder talk to each other a decent amount.

Right, he isn't interviewing dudes though as pj insinuated.

My thought was more in line with what Daris said, and they laughed the suggestion out of the room, and not that he interviewed, but I should have been more clear.

I'm fine with this guy.  Seems competent, and NDSU has become a freaking machine.  He's starting from a good place.

I will say that this makes me feel like Chris Klieman is probably going to be on the map for next football coach, though.

So you now don't think this ad will be willing to just roll over when hiring a football coach? I'm confused.

It's not binary. I think the cadre of older, established decision makers probably have a comfort level with a more experienced (i.e. Older) guy. I think it's a given that Snyder will want a seat at the table when the decision for a new coach is made. Some ADs may be okay with that, and some won't.

Snyder isn't stupid. Sean isn't getting the job. Depending on when he steps down, Leavitt will be too old. But NDSU has a core philosophy like ours, Klieman may be palatable to Bill.

These things are not mutually exclusive.

None of this has anything to do with your wild ass assumptions that Bjork essentially told LHC Bill Snyder to sit his ass down and Taylor told Snyder that he would go as far as wiping Snyder's backside if that got him the job. There's nothing as all about the ages of those two guys that should have led you down the road you went down. A 44 year old man can't respect the wishes of a hall of fame coach but a 57 year old has the total ability to show compete deference?

You've also already assumed that Taylor wants to hire Klieman. I'm aware that the old NDSU got a job at freaking Wyoming, I'm guessing Taylor knows that too.

Initial impression was meh, second impression is cautiously optimistic. Way too early to know for sure yet, but from the background info (fluff or no fluff) provided about him it seems like the guy has a better mix of personnel management and strong leadership skills than Currie did. Obviously could be way off in that spitball assessment though.

First impression? He's the type of guy rich white dudes will relate to so they'll keep giving money plus has a strong desire to win. Seems like a decent combination to have.
