This feels like the end.
Yes it does.  Snyder is last to go and then a dawn of a new era happens overnight.

None of these coaches would be "retiring" if it wasn't the end.

Just the opposite, actually.  If Snyder was retiring, there would be no need for these other guys to do so.  The new coach would bring in his own staff and most of these guys would retire at that point.

I think Hayes and Miller were/are ready to go; I think Snyder thinks he has one more run, and realizes he needs some more youth/energy on his staff.  So the feelings are mutual.  (Maybe not with Mo, though, who seems to not realize that he can either "retire" or be escorted to the door.)

I think losing Miller, Hayes, and Mo while retaining Snyder, Dimel, and Coleman is literally the perfect scenario.  Especially if the replacement for Hayes is Leavitt or Venebles.

See, I'd have to disagree with you. I believe it's Snyder's final gift to "his guys". If Snyder retires then most likely the coaches don't get a nice parachute on the way outn so Snyder is hooking them up before he loses control. I believe he's giving Klein a seat at the table to help him land on any new coaching staff that comes in.

Now, my guess is that if Snyder does not step down or retire within the next week then he's probably on for one more season like most everyone has speculated.

We will just have to wait and see.

Do you think Klein would accept a position for a coach that was about to retire, knowing that he might not be retained by the new coach?  I wouldn't do that if I were Klein.

From what I've heard, Hayes isn't going anywhere.

From what I've heard, Hayes was ready to retire about three years ago.  Who knows.

If I had to pick a coach to go, it would be Hayes

I think he's been ready to retire for several years, but Snyder keeps talking him into staying. I have good information that he is definitely planning to coach here next season FWIW.

If it meant having a better chance to make the staff once Snyder is gone, yes.

And like others have said. Maybe it's just weird timing and the Hayes/Klein change has been in the works for a while now. Wouldn't surprise me.

Hayes D works well when he has corners that have the ability to turn back towards the QB and go after the ball.  Shelly/Reed aren't Malone/Chapman, but they can still be pretty good and are a lot better than Morgan Burns.  Snyder's comments about the juco safety and LB give me a lot of hope.  I hope Hayes doesn't leave.

Dumb was uncalled for by me. But Dimel has had pretty good offenses during Snyder 2.0. I can't complain.

this. we've all had our dimel hate moments but by and large he has done a great job with these youngsters.

I've thought about that, but still come to the conclusion that Hayes is weakest link on this staff.  The stats back it up.  In 2012 and 2016 he had some NFL talent but never had a dominant defense.  Plus, I think other big 12 coaches have figured out how to beat him.

Think about this year:  Willis and Lee will get drafted for NFL.  Barnett was a fifth year senior with lots of experience.  Moore might get an NFL look.  Geary is a huge stud, as is Walker.  But yet we were just a good defense.  Our offense was statistically better than our defense even though we were playing freshman and sophomores on offense.

I wonder there was kind of assurance that their status with the program is NOT linked to Coach Snyder being HC (i.e. someone as a HCIW inside Vainer, OR, someone who is as a HC potential that is not currently in Vainer.)

Or maybe he was given a chance to take another step up the coaching ladder and come back to his alma mater and he took it knowing that if Snyder retires there's a chance he stays on with the new coach and worse case he finds a relatively comparable position somewhere else.

“Del has been a great contributor to our program, our University and our community,” Snyder continued. “He is well received by his peers and our players and represented our program as a committed, loyal, hard-working, caring, disciplined and responsible coach. Unfortunately, it was initially reported inaccurately, suggesting that he was asked to leave. That was a totally false report. In fact, I was greatly surprised when he came in to tell me about his retirement plans. He and his wonderful wife, Jan, and sons Todd and Tad will be dearly missed.”

It's crazy to think Mo was on Jim Dickey's staff in the 80's when I was in school.  He has coached at K-State under:
Rainsberger (GA)
Dickey
Snyder I
Prince
Snyder II

The amount of shade thrown at Currie is staggering. Bill openly discussed his cancer treatment with a wide enough swathe that many people knew throughout the Manhattan community to the point where Fitz posts something and then Bill goes out of his way to mention that he never told Currie?  I mean, I know that it is an open secret that Bill doesn't like Currie, but wow.

Yeah, and part of the reason I quoted Bill on Miller is that maybe this is part of the problem. Perhaps Currie or someone else in the AD is going to these assistants with the retirement packages, thus the original leaks that Fitz reported and that Mo is considering a package as well. :dunno:

Definitely very interesting to note.  I have to note, it probably takes a lot to have Bill hold a grudge against you.  I mean, it appears he forgave Mark Mangino for all the underhanded crap he did on the way out the door.  So, if there are issues with Currie, that is something pretty hefty in the eyes of Bill.

HCBS has never adapted to the fact that some of his power was taken away.   He basically had a Yes Man in Jim Epps in the old regime who would schedule whatever cupcakes Snyder told him to schedule, now Snyder's contracts directly stipulate that he must work directly with the AD in creating the schedule (not some associate AD yes man).  Snyder pretty much could do what ever he wanted in the eyes of Wefald, including getting paid bonuses and salary in a manner to avoid taxes.   Now you read the coaches contracts and they're very pointed in how the coaches will be paid, and Currie was very pointed that athletic department salary payments et. al. would flow through the University Comptrollers office with all the requisite taxes taken out (not flowing through some athletic department account) etc. etc.
