"Billy Butler hit a triple."

That was pretty high on the list of things I never thought I would hear.  Until tonight.  :surprised:

Yea, and coming a day after Guthrie's 8 shutout innings I'm trying to decide if I walked into some alternate reality

One of those players on russia's women's bball team has very, VERY hair armpits.

Anybody else remember in Athens when some Chinese woman won some T&F race and she lifted up her arms and had hairy pits than most guys? For some reason that moment is about the only thing I remember about those Olympics.

On a different note... have we ever had any Team USA basketball players from K-State? In other words, have we ever had any gold medalists in basketball? It would seem like Bob Boozer would have been back in the day... Ernie Barrett maybe? Mitch Richmond?

I know Richmond won gold in '96 and I think he was on the last "college" team in '88 that took bronze. Don't know about Boozer/Barrett.

I'm still hanging by a thread on my Royal fanning.

BUT if I even hear the words "trade" and "salvy perez" in the same sentence, IM OUT. seriously not even rough ridin' kidding.

Dude can't throw out anyone.
He's an above average defensive catcher, and an excellent hitter. Probably best player on our team, and it's not even close.

I know but he really struggles throwing runner out.  I thought he'd be better.

League average is 27%.  He has thrown out 9 runners and allowed 12 SBs.  So he's at 43%, 16% above league average.  The only reason he doesn't lead the American League in that stat is that he doesn't have enough attempts.

Yea, 3rd lowest stolen base % of catchers with at least 10 attempts against (behind only Montero and Yadier Molina)... not sure what more you expect of the kid :dunno:

Obviously KU fans haven't realized that the best of the future Klein/Spani superhumans will end up riding the bench at an elite program. Otherwise their fright and jealousy wouldn't be near as noticable.

If you are a Royals fan and your anger is directed towards anyone not name Glass, your anger is misdirected.

Exactly.  And the remainder of this season and offseason are where Glass's legacy will be written.

Either KC get 2 quality starters or they do not.  There is nothing more that needs to be said.

Oh, I hate Glass as an owner, have for a long time. The problem with an owner is if they suck they either sell the team or they don't not really anything that can be done about it. And yes, if KC doesn't go out and get at least 2 quality starters this offseason it basically signals to all Royals fans that there officially is no hope.

So I'm worried, week one Klein goes out with a hip Pointer and is out for 4 weeks, week two, Hubert goes down with an injury and is out for 10 weeks

We've stayed pretty injury free so far whenever I check in on them in my dynasty.

Check that, just looked it up again and Sams just went down for 10 weeks (Junior season)... some FR(RS) who is evidently better than Bender has replaced him in what looks like it will be a pretty bad season.

Ok, I hadn't really been ready to jump on the fire Yost bandwagon just yet, but when you take a guy who had been one of the hottest hitters in the game since he came back and hit him 9th behind Betancourt and Francouer is just laughable. I have no idea whether he has any say on whether Sanchez keeps pitching, but if he does you can add that as another strike against him.

if self was touching kids, ku fans would riot at the star for reporting it.

Or imagine what would happen at Nubb if something like this came out during the Osborne era.

Klein didn't win the Heisman? Failed season if you ask me.

What's really bad is Klein wasn't even top 5, but Hubert is an early season favorite in the 2nd season

And Hubert just won the 2013 Heisman :sdeek:

I was surprised that EA actually showed some respect for K-State and made them a good team, at least in simmed games.  In my dynasty I started with a crap team (UMass) to build them into a juggernaut.  In the first season K-State finished 12-1 (only loss was at OU), won the Big 12 (Sooners choked a few games) and beat Nebraska 38-33 in the Fiesta Bowl.  Would take  :emawkid:

The game is really high on Pig Aggie.  They went undefeated in my first season and beat 12-0 Syracuse (WTF) 45-7 in the title game.

Yeah, they made K-State an ok team but they made about 20 teams better. Typical bullshit.

I don't know, in that season the Cats were ranked #3 after the bowl games were done.  I forgot who won it but Klein was the Heisman runnerup.  Arthur won the Best LB award and Malone finished second for the Best DB award.  2013 was a bit of a rebuilding year.  I just finished my second season and KSU went 8-5 with a Holiday Bowl win over UCLA.

Just finished up my first season. Cats lost @OU but kept winning and then jumped up to #3 after beating then #1 ranked TCU. Stayed that way until CC games when #1 Georgia (didn't have one of the roster updates and forgot to take out Crowell) got knocked off by Bama leading to a NC rematch between OU and the Cats (suck in SEC) and KState ended up winning 49-28 and taking home the NC :ksu:

Klein didn't even get top 5 in Heisman but he smashed the school passing TD record (with 35 I think) and Harper snagged 15 TD's for that record. Brown and Malone both won awards but I can't remember which ones.

Great, both dumbasses on PTI (Bob Ryan and Adande) thought we were booing Cano because he was a Yankee.  Good grief.

BTW Bob Ryan spits so much when he talks.

Yea, but us Royals fans are the ones with misguided butthurt

I really don't understood why people think booing a 30 year old man who makes 14 mil a year is classless. Is it classless when Yankee's fans boo any Red Sox player anytime anywhere? There's a reason it's know as a "Bronx cheer" so shut the eff up about it Yankee fans. Obviously Cano never really had any plans of picking a Royal for the HR derby so he probably should have just kept his mouth shut. If Escobar had been the Royals rep he could have got away with it, but when the teams leading homerun hitter is the pick and you don't use him it just goes to show he never was going to do it anyway.

I also love how people are using, well Fielder, Bautista, and Trumbo hit the most HR's of anyone in the competition so he made the right choice, as a talking point. How do we know if he'd have picked Butler he wouldn't have won the whole damn thing?

Anyone watch the Futures game today? Wil Myers was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs & 1 run scored, & he also did this to the camera behind home plate:

does anybody even realize how good looking he is? like, anybody? i mean wow. take that line and add an extra hit and run scored just for what he looks like on a tv.
pretty sure i was heard screaming things about it being wil's field not that losery loser frenchy's. and that foul was awesome, cartierfor3 and i could see the camera glass cascading to the ground.
Yesterday was basically a live ad for why Myers needs to stay right here in KC the rest of the season. Sure it wasn't against ML pitching, but he basically did everything Frenchy doesn't. Plus did anyone else hear the mic'd up segment of him in bp? "So, do you have a girlfriend?" Just adorable.

Was having a conversation tonight about the Royals with a friend who's a major eternal optimist who did happen to bring up an interesting perspective. This coming offseason will be the first time we see whether there's any commitment from the organization to building around a core of players rather than just trying to piece together something resembling a major league club. This season is difinitively pointing out the strenghts and weakness of the team. Coming into this season the starting pitching didn't look great, but a rotation of Paulino/Duffy/Hoch/Sanchez/Chen looked like it may be solid enough to compliment the young lineup and with Montgomery and Odorizzi in the minors help was on the way. Now with the way the season has unfolded the weakness of the starting pitching is glaring and the "help on the way" isn't looking like a sure thing. The line-up is fairly solid, especially if Myers can come in and improve RF over Frenchy. CF and 2B are the weak links, but aren't exactly the abyss that certain positions where just a few years ago. The only area that really needs an influx of talent from FA right now is SP, so if this offseason we see absolutely no sign that Glass/Moore are actively working to improve the rotation then I think it's safe to say that they officially do not care about ever fielding a winning ball club.

Pretty stunning that teams like the Twins and Jays are marching rookie pitchers out there who absolutely handcuff the Royals and we don't have a single rookie in the rotation....and it doesn't look like we will soon.

I thought Dayton had built a monster farm system?

Duffy and Lamb needing TJ took a big bite out of the pitching side of the prospect list. Add in Montgomery and Dwyer not meeting expectations the last couple years and the position portion of the farm system looks alot better. Odorizzi still looks like a top prospect and I think there's a chance we see him after the ASG. There's also still that chance someone like Montgomery or Verdego could turn into a decent MLB pitcher. Diamond, one of those rookies for the Twins, had something like a 5.50 ERA in AAA last year and opponents hit over .300 against him. Not saying it's going to happen for the Royals and probably won't, but there's been stranger things happen in baseball.

Even though I have lived in Kansas my whole life I don't think I could ever be a Royals fan. Seems like the worst thing in the world.

It's really not much worse than being a KState fan

Much worse. Imagine Wooly coaching K-State hoops for almost thirty years or K-State football sans LHC Bill Snyder. That's pretty much Royals baseball since the 80's.

Royals are the only team I root for to win a championship since I've been alive and I've often wondered if I'll ever get to see a k-state championship in bball or fball before I die.  I know it's much harder for k-state to win a championship, but either way I'd put my money on the royals winning another before k-state so when that's the goal, I don't see it being worse.

Exactly my point

While the Royals have had some dry spells hitting/scoring, I rarely think of offense as a major problem for this team. Especially when you are throwing a guy like Sanchez out there every 5th game.

Agree, the offense has actually been pretty good the last 30 days or so. Outside of Frenchy, Dyson, and Betencourt that is. And Betencourt has something like 24 RBI's in that span so you can't even complain too much about him. Francouer has more strikeouts than hits in that time period.
