Just getting to start watching the game, but ice hockey is one of the few team sports I enjoy watching the women's version almost as much as the men, especially when USA/Canada games are on. I just wish there was a few more quality teams. It seemed the rest of the field was slightly improved from 4 years ago so maybe there's hope.

happy to have so many hockey fans, the NHL is so much better than the cycle-fest that is olympic hockey

Is it on national TV much? Any channel other than NBCSN? Maybe I'll pick a team. :D

Don't let MIR bully you into liking Phoenix or some of these other losers push you towards San Jose. St Louis is the team to cheer for. Goaltending can be a bit maddening but they're basically the junkyard cats of the NHL

I like the idea of STL because they're kind of local..

Local and you can get a pretty good look at them during the Olympics. Oshie, Shattenkirk, and Backes from the US, Bouwmeester and Pietrangelo for Canada, and Steen and Berglund from Sweden

Russia isn't the powerhouse it once was.  I don't follow it, but don't think they'd be favored to win a game against either the US or Canada.

Russia, Canada, US, and Sweden are the true international hockey powers. Any of the four could win the gold and it wouldn't be entirely shocking. Canada is the odds on favorite though.

Go ahead and throw in the Czech Republic and Finland. All 6 have the ability to win a single elimination tournament.

Slovakia and Switzerland can beat anyone in a single elimination tournament but can't win 3 or 4 in a row.

Yea, I think The Czechs or Finns winning gold would still be a mild surprise. They do definitely have the ability but I don't think to many people would bet on it.

Switzerland seems to be the up and comer. The way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if they're better than both Czech Rep and Finland in 8 years.

The Czechs and the Fins have relatively young talent, the Swiss are really only buoyed by excellent goal keeping right now, they need to develop talent depth or else they will just be Germany circa 2006.

Entirely possible, and without knowing the pulse of hockey in Switzerland I have no idea what they're youth programs are like. Was simply basing the thought they could be one of the better countries in the upcoming years based on there being some quality young Swiss talent for the first time as long as I've been paying attention to hockey.

Elijah Lee dug himself out of his house to get to a grocery store fax machine to send his signed LOI to our coaches.

That's awesome.

Quote
Blue Springs seniors Elijah Lee, Dalvin Warmack and Kaleb Prewett made plans long ago to spend National Signing Day together and simultaneously sign their letters of intent to join the Kansas State football program.

Instead, Lee spent the morning frantically shoveling his driveway, trying to clear enough snow to still partake in the festivities.

A winter snow storm in Kansas City altered the signing day plans for high school athletes who were out of school Wednesday, including Lee, who was determined to still find a way to fax his signed letter to Kansas State.

Without a fax machine in his house, Lee grabbed a shovel from the garage and started digging into the pile of snow. Nearly a half hour later, he had cleared a path large enough to drive to a local grocery store and fax his papers from there.

"I had a decent amount to shovel," Lee said. "I was one of the last ones to sign because of it, but I wasn't going to miss National Signing Day."

Lawrence is ver easy to find.  A major interstate goes right through it.

Yep, all the JCCC KU fans know you just hop on I-70 and you eventually find it. The SE KS Jayhawk fans all know that 59 Hwy goes right to it. And most of them have actually made the trip once or twice for a Target run for the nice crap you can't get at Wal-Mart

Had the sound off for the second half, why did ISU get to shoot FTs when Ejim got the T for mushing NuWill?

Called a "regular" foul on willy.

I think safety is a much bigger need and if the Chiefs spend FA money in the secondary that's where they need to do it. Unless they can sign one of those guys for super cheap I think the better gameplan at CB is roll with what you have (except Dunta, he needs to be and probably will be cut) and hope that Flowers, Smith and Cooper have better seasons next year after improving at FS. If they happen to find a ditr in the draft or a stud who drops go ahead and try to improve that way.

Do not want.

nope, don't want

Oh man, that south would get so much play in the local media. KU the 1 with Wichita St the 2. Creighton in there, Wichita St. 1st game with the team that opened up the season knocking off KState, then a possible 2nd round rematch with Gonzaga

 :runaway:

I'd love to be a 7/10 going against Wichita in round 2 (3, whatever it is). If we beat them we'd be like "Yeah punk, you dorks are so small time" and if they beat us we'd be like "Meh, football school"

I want off the 8/9 line bad this year. All of the current 1's would be in us balls deep halfway through the first half, we might stand a chance against some of the 2s
