So I have this friend in Canada who made this song for people who are q@ supporters. He said he would be honored if you would put it on your MOAP playlist for tomorrow since he can't make it. He also told me that you can feel free to listen to it whenever you're jogging around the old stadium, or that you can blare it while you do the dishes, or whatever.
Reports are coming in that his voice hurts right now after spending all day singing like Phil Collins, whose voice is surprisingly much higher than he originally thought when he undertook this project. :sdeek:

But here's the thing about making a song like this. Do I update it every time something K-State0 happens? Do I compile them in the comprehensive K-State0 thread and just save it for a new song next year? I mean JFC, last night alone offered up a bunch of possibilities. The words "RevHoney" would sound great put through a megaphone filter with the reverb cranked way up. Can you imagine? Wow. A proposal to the coach's daughter at midfield? That deserves its own verse if not its own song. Fireworks boomed overhead while Bill uttered a perfect sound byte about how "they need to put a stop to those damn fireworks" or something. Do I cram all of this stuff in? It seems like there's barely any more room for anything to be shoehorned in...but then again, the same could be said for the poster that was the genesis of this all.
Also, a belated :party: to Fatty for locating and uploading the Prince video of him talking about how we're gonna do just like our mascot. I remember watching that interview at approximately 9:02 in the morning California time and facepalming so goddamn hard.

Whew. Long day. Finally home.
Thought about this song like 3 years ago. Forgot about it for a while until it came back to me recently when I saw aviators in a gas station. Oh also there's some CanCo stuff in this vid. Sent him a pm earlier this summer to see if he'd consider coming out of what appears to be semi-retirement to make a few MS Paint masterpieces to go along with the song. I will definitely say that dude was not lying all those times he called himself mercurial. But he came through and this blog is better off for it. T-y CC. So the 'shops were done by CanCo, who I pm'd and begged to kinda come out of retirement for the video. Dude is for real mercurial as hell, first he refused to do it, then he pm'd me back and said a bunch of them "came to him in a dream" but that using MS Paint was
absolutely 110% out of the question, especially for something like this.
I was all :confused: and sent him the lyrics anyway and begged once more, he never responded for like a week and a half (which is why the band couldn't get the song out there until the second game of the season), and then without any warning he sent me a bunch of the Billy Willies (the ones crammed into the end of the video) and a note that said

So I flew back to Kansas with Mrs. SB and lil SB this weekend for Thanksgiving and for the Farmageddon lolfest. We were on our flight back from KC to NOLA this morning and right after I sit down near the middle-back I look up and see that one of the people walking down the aisle is none other than #OurGuy "Stottin'" Daniel S4ms. His carry-on bag is a bright purple Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl giveaway bag and sure enough he sits down right across the aisle from us. I said "SAMS!" #OurGuy gave me a fistbump and we talked a little bit about yesterday's game and he called me sir. :D
Then I had to go pay attention to my kid and be a parent for a while and stuff :jerk: . A few minutes later I looked up and he had his blue and yellow (!) Beats by Dre headphones on and I looked closely at them and they had a #4 on each earpiece and then above that in tiny letters it said #LIFE. So fresh.
He slept through the whole flight so unfortunately I didn't get to do too much jersey chasing, but I did realize that those Beats headphones would be like perfect to use while listening to the 2013 Fitz and The Lemon Parties downer song "Waters Runs Dry" about how he should be starting over Jake. So I tweet this at him right before the plane took off:

Well he sleeps through the entire flight, so me and Mrs. SB and Lil SB deplane, then Sams goes off later. He finds me outside of the plane and taps me on the shoulder and is like, "Yo man, I'm listening to it right now." And I look down and his phone was at that exact moment showing a picture of a shirtless Eric Stonestreet from 1993 covered in purple body paint and it is clear from the inane footage that he is on a Fitz and the Lemon Parties song. We shake hands and say goodbye and that's that.
Then five hours go by and I'm like, "wait a minute. Shirtless purple Stonestreet isn't in the Waters Runs Dry video. He's in a different one." So I check my tweet and it turns out I accidentally tweeted him Willie Billy by mistake. So it's highly likely that #OurGuy walked away from our interaction undoubtedly thinking, "Who TF is this old weirdo in a bright orange shirt who tweeted me from 3 feet away to listen to a song he wrote about me after a really painful loss? And what about that painful loss inspired him to write a song about a weird hybrid monster that's half mascot and half old coach?"
ZERO chance he even made it halfway through Willie Billy
