A huge missed opportunity. Lots of credit for this team and coaches for putting themselves into position at the under 4; lots of disappointment for not making plays after that to finish with a win. A heavy reliance on jump shots to make possession winning plays wasn't enough as Foster didn't hit shots. We also had a few attempts by Edwards going into the paint, but they missed wildly.
Still, the problems with oboarding were huge (ISU 31.6% to 20.0%) and not making 3s (28.6% for the game, 1/6 in the 2nd). We all knew we'd probably have to outscore ISU to win it. I was honestly hoping for 1.05 PPP (which we got) but we gave up 1.14 and that's tough to beat in Ames. Also, ISU played about 3-4 minutes of really hard defense and that was enough (but they don't do that often).
Now get back home and get wins, which the Cats will do if they continue to play with effort and intensity like tonight. Get the home wins and losses like tonight don't hurt you badly, though we will have to steal another road win or two from good Big 12 teams (while winning @TCU and @Tech).
