Would take. I think we could even pull off an extra to put us at 10 wins if April optimism is to be trusted.

I am so sick of them............ :frown:

I think Baylor is the kind of team that wilts a little bit as the season wears on because, like us, they lack a lot of depth.  They can field a really strong 22, but the next 22 can be pretty shaky.

Also, teams that rely primarily on high scoring offenses usually lose 1-2 games they shouldn't.  No data on that, but just subjective observational analysis.

Like Baylor wilted the last time we played them down there late in the season?

I don't think Baylor wilts.  I think similar to the Leach Tech teams, if you can stop a couple of things early, you can get a lead on them.  Instead of the deep balls becoming a constant threat, they become necessary for the team to comeback.  You can sit back on those quite a bit, get some turnovers and dare them to run it, even if they are getting 5 yards a carry at that point.

We wilted because injuries were taking their toll.  And it was after the TCU game, and no team that year won after getting beat up by TCU's defense in their next game.

I get why folks would be less optimistic about Baylor, but I think it's going to be a three way race next year between KSU, OU, and BU.  I also think we're deeper than usual, which will help as the season rolls on.

We also have KU at home the week before Baylor, so we will probably be a little more rested, and BU has a neutral site game with Tech.  Those Tech/BU games tend to be pretty fiesty, so we may catch them on a little emotional letdown, too.

Again, subjective analysis.

That's fair.

I think the big difference between this year and last year for us is that I think the secondary is going to be pretty good from day one as opposed to having to grow through the year.  Also, we're way more athletic at linebacker this year, too.

I guess the run doesn't worry me as much this year, and I feel more confident that we can effectively man up on teams.  I "feel" like we won't see as many eight yard Dorrian Roberts cushions out there, so we may be able to be a little less bend/break and more aggressive.  Especially since it sounds like Moore is stepping up.  He gives us a real X factor in terms of a pass rush since he can do it from the LB and stand-up DE perspective.

I think that's the philosophy.  there was a playbook on scribd talking all about the 4 deep.  It's what they believe.  They aren't just going to start manning up.

Guys wasn't our defense better in 2013 than it was in 2012?  Seem to remember @ksu_fan making that point somewhere.

I think they were almost as good, but slightly worse.

I can't see a scenario where we lose two conference games that allows us to still win it. If we lose, aren't they most likely to OU and BU? The other two top candidates to compete for the league?

Alamo seems most likely at this point. Hopefully we won't have to play Oregon.

FWIW, OU doesn't scare me this year.   Maybe UT or OSU can hand them a second loss?   (Cause the Cats are going to give them one.)
