I don't know what some of you are doing with the Texas and Alabama jobs. They are for all intents and purposes the same job. Yes, Texas is absolutely better but all of the things people trumpet that makes Texas great, Alabama has the same elements.
They both have all the money a basketball program needs. They both are football schools in football states which leads to not nearly as much pressure on the basketball coach. They both play in conferences with one blue blood and a bunch of other schools that can easily be passed. They both have close access to many talented players. Alabama recruits Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Louisiana just as easily as UT recruits east and west Texas.
If he's offered both UT is the better choice because they're more ready to win now but Alabama isn't nearly the pit some of you think it is. The $3 million was a starting point, Parrish said he wouldn't be surprised if they went to 4 or 5 for 3Gs. He also said that Alabama will commit to improving facilities. Mike Slive apparently sent a directive to the schools outlining why it is important that they take basketball seriously. Finally Parrish said that Nick Saban will be actively involved in the bid for Marshall. He thinks Gregg will leave WSU for Alabama but will take UT if it's offered.
