Electric mower
« on: March 22, 2017, 09:59:40 AM »
Anybody have experience with these? Apparently I don't get to keep my lawn "guy" and will have to be mowing again. New lawn is very small and was wanting to get either a cordless battery powered or a corded electric. Only negatives reviews I saw were that if you get behind on mowing (which I always do) it is kind of a bitch for these things.

I've heard for small yards (like maybe a few thousand square feet or less) the li-ion cordless work pretty good as long as the grass isn't wet or too long. Unless you have a tiiiiny yard you don't want to screw with a corded mower going back and forth.

I've got a Ryobi cordless string trimmer and love it. One less engine to maintain. My middle lower upper class size yard is way too big to mow electric, tho.

get a reel mower

Was legit thinking about it. did not know you could still bag with them. The only negative is that it doesn't mulch at all. I like the clippings getting tucked in under the grass. Really holds the moisture.

Dethatching is a myth much like winterization of the sprinklers.

I have a cordless electric mower, though yet to fully test it on my house's lawn, see how I just got it in January. It's a pretty small yard though. The guy I bought it from had a yard about 1.5x mine and said it had just enough charge to do that. Confidence high.

No gas, oil, or maintenance. Quiet.

My gas mower uses about 2 gallons of gas per year and I do nothing to maintain it other than adding a little bit of fuel stabilizer to the gas can when I refill it. I've never added oil or changed it and have had no issues for about 5 years now.

FreundinSonntag had an electric mower and the first time she used it it over heated cutting through her overgrown yard and started smoking.

You've gone five years on the original spark plug? Wow. Also, you don't have to change your oil every year but five years is pushing it. Have you at least sharpened your blade during the time?
