The waiting bs that sports people feel they have to do may be the most ridiculous thing that is ingrained in our sports culture. I don't understand why sports people think things like jersey retirements and hall of fame enshrinement need so much time. Can people not recognize greatness while they are watching it? I feel like the greatness of these players are diminished over time. When they put Dick Knotsman's number up there, I didn't know who in the hell that was, and frankly many people who enjoyed him were dead. I mean I see his numbers and can recognize he was a great rebounder but other than that, his number whatever it is, means nothing to me.

I have had two kids and one them has started school since Beasley left, what the hell are we waiting on? Hasn't Durant's jersey been retired for like 4 years now?

Jake lives in Europe all winter and has since he graduated. It's not so much waiting for a certain number of years to pass as it is waiting until it's not a major inconvenience for the players we're honoring.

Jersey retirements on senior day take away from the honor IMO. When Jake finally does get #0 raised up he'll have an entire weekend to celebrate it without having to worry about playing a game. He can come in on Friday for a banquet in his honor, sit courtside, hang out with all of the other greats who came back, etc. That will mean a lot more to him than getting 15 minutes before or after the game...

I'd rather have other things up in the rafters, but i'll enjoy when these go up there too.

Durant won the Naismith award.  I'm pretty sure that if Beasley had won not gotten screwed over, his jersey would be retired by now.  Also, I agree with you so no need to start an argument.

The only good thing about them not retiring Jake's on sr night is that someone would have made Sprads happen this year too based on his place in overall stat lists.

Didn't we come up with some stupid rule that you have to graduate or play 4 years or some BS?  I remember thinking that Beasley would never be up there because of that bogus rule.  It is a shame he isn't; 26 & 12 should get you up there.  Especially with 3 or 4 40 point games.

I'm pretty sure the AD's rule applies here too. Everyone up there has graduated.

Then it's going to take a grassroots campaign to get Beaz up there.

Yeah they'll never put Mike up there. Stupid. Maybe Pullen someday.

If they do, hopefully we'll start using elite level cloth banners instead of this tarp bullcrap

I talked to Frank Martin about it once. He said he didn't want Beasley's there until Steve Henson's was there. True story.
