Nix is infield depth. Willingham wasn't available yesterday.

that and ned inexplicably using nix and downs when he had far better options

those were the least of the questionable judgements.  i'm not even sure those were questionable.  letting moose hit against lefties twice in important bats was ludicrous.

Even having nix on the roster is questionable let alone playing him.

i don't know why they wanted him on the roster.  if they're going to have him, they should have used him defensively, but ph willingham for him when he came up.

but then, they should have already ph willingham for moose, putting in colon on defense, so they would have had to use nix at 1st anyways when they pr butler.

Willingham is having issues with his back & that is why he didn't hit. Nix is a good defensive player from what I have heard (but hits like crap). Dayton Moore wanted Nix on the roster before Sept. 1st so he is eligible for the postseason roster (dear God why would we want Nix if we make it to the postseason?). What is sad in order to make room for Nix they sent Colon down to AA NW Arkansas & Colon will be back with the Royals on Tuesday.

There is no doubt that the reason we lost is the offense not coming through with men in scoring position but Dayton Moore & Yost also played a part in it as well. Why pitch Scott Downs? He is a lefty specialist that sucks now & Yost let him pitch to a right handed batter who hit a triple. The Royals are in a pennant race, Herrera threw only 16 pitched in the 10th, why couldn't he go 1 more inning?

didn't know about the willingham and colon.  so i withdraw my criticisms.  though maybe they should have sent willingham down and kept colon if willingham was hurt.  guess it depends on when they both can be back by.  and if they could even send willingham down.  dunno how that works.

i can understand making nix available for the 40 man.  could be a useful defensive sub.  makes sense to sacrifice the roster for one game yesterday to improve it for september.

Tightness in his back. Sounded like he just woke up with it. He worked on it all day.

The issue with Nix was to get him they had to open a roster spot immediately, thus Colon was sent down until Tuesday. Nix's numbers aren't great, but I don't mind getting an experienced guy for depth.

I guess salvy's scrote hasn't recovered from that brutal shot to the nuts he took last night if they have him as dh.

Lefty going for the Indians so no Raul at DH & Willingham probably won't play again tonight so it is a good night to give Salvy the night off from behind the plate.

@McCulloughStar: Ned Yost says part of the reason the hitters have been pressing is the pressure to perform in front of the big crowds here at The K.

If our coming back to earth means we are tied with DET at the moment, I'm not panicking yet.  Tigers lost today and we can start rebuilding a lead.

Well now that might be the stupidest thing that Ned has ever said in his rich history of saying stupid things

Why is Ned Yost?

Don't think it has been announced officially but it sounds like the Royals are going to be bringing up Brandon Finnegan (1st round draft pick from TCU this year) for September to be a LHP relief pitcher out of the pen.

Quote
Andy McCullough ?@McCulloughStar

The Royals say they won't announce their 40-man jiu-jitsu for Sept. call-ups until after tonight's game. A few spots still to be cleared.

 Andy McCullough ?@McCulloughStar

The Royals announce Brandon Finnegan, Terrance Gore and Lane Adams are all coming up for September.

Andy McCullough ?@McCulloughStar

Finnegan has already thrown 27 innings for Royals (105.2 for TCU). When he was drafted, the club projected he could throw 45-50 this year.

Gore has had 47 SB in the minors this year. Hopefully Scott Downs will be dropped from the 40 man roster.
