Man of Steel
« on: April 14, 2014, 03:36:42 PM »
So I saw 'Man of Steel' on HBO this weekend.

For the most part it was a decent movie, but some of it was too unbelievable.

Intelligent life on another planet - BELIEVABLE
If you trust Dr Steven Hawking's Math it is even a statistical likelihood

This far advanced alien life has depleted all of their nature resources destroying the plant and causing a military coo - PROBABLE
Looking at how we are doing on earth, I could see this happening.

This advanced life form chooses a farm in central Kansas as a place to send their only child and the hope for the continuance of their race.  - LIKELY
Where else in the universe would you want you kid learning the value of right and wrong.

The Farmer takes a piece of the unknown spacecraft to Kansas State University to determine it's origins - LOGICAL

KU wining a game in the 3rd quarter and being the number 12 team in the country.....
You lost me Hollywood... NO way could I believe any scenario were this could happen.

Long lead in to get to that picture. FWIW, I don't think they sent him to a specific place on earth, they just put him in the ship and said sayonara <- (that is such an odd word). *Takes it to the movie thread/weird words thread*

I'm pretty sure that 12 represents their Big XII ranking.

It makes sense. If an alien was staying at beems house, he would fire up the 08 (?) season and talk about the glory days

And somebody ought to tell him to not jump around on band wagons either.  I am pretty sure he wears shirts from KU, KSTATE, and WSU at different parts of the movie.

Damn!  I thought this was going to be a thread about Joseph Stalin.    :blank:

To be honest, I almost thought I was on GPC when I first read the post.   :frown:

Reminds me, I might have to go over there to see if anyone has helped another person found somebody that could direct them to another to provide an estimate on what it would cost to rebuild the carburetor on an '87 Monte Carlo.
