Maybe not going home for break was less about working out and more about padding grades on easy intercession classes?  :dunno:

Iowa Western is weird guys.  Out of 100+ players,  there are like 6 dudes that aren't from Iowa or an adjoining state.

Outside of KS, TX, CA and SEC Country there are almost no Jucos that play football.

Waters appears to be a self made,  hard work type of guy

Because he's white, right?

I think the people on this board underestimate how much the tucks rough ridin' loved Michael Bishop.  They're always searching for the next Michael Bishop.  A QB with toughness, grit, sprinter's speed, and an arm that could throw a football right over them thar mountains.  Some of them believe Sams to be the next Michael Bishop.

The gE board is going to implode when Sams is listed as backup on the depth chart this fall because he wasn't able to grasp the playbook or pass the Snyder Wonderlick tests.

Sams isn't dumb

According to a team manager, this is up for debate (classroom-wise...  :embarrassed:)

And I mean, really bad.

I'd heard that too, but classroom success is not always all that great an indicator of intelligence.  From interviews he seems fairly intelligent to me.

Yeah, but classroom success dictates whether or not he can play

No,  because he was a nobody high school player and he developed into a very good juco qb.

black people go to juco because of grades or wasted potential, white people go because they're high-school-nobody-self-made-hard-workers.

Bishop did go to a juco because of grades.

Most go because they're poor, academics, or not talented enough to go to Division I school.

Big 12 Football: Power-Ranking the Most Talented Offenses of 2013By Ian Berg(Featured Columnist) on February 20, 2013 941 reads
11

The Big 12 has become known as an offensive conference over the past decade, and the coming year it will not disappoint. There are a number of top offenses that are littered throughout the conference that will be major players on the national stage in 2013.
The top five are very talented, but from top to bottom the conference has a lot of offensive-minded coaches and teams.
Looking ahead to the new season, this is how the Big 12 offenses stack up for 2013.

Best of the Rest
The Kansas Jayhawks picked up an offensive guru in Charlie Weis before last season, but the team still struggled to produce anything resembling a quality offense. The Jayhawks landed a ton of JUCOs in this past recruiting cycle, so things could change.
As of now, they are the bottom feeder of the Big 12.
Iowa State isn’t far behind, but the Cyclones win ballgames.

Kansas State may be the biggest surprise at No. 6. This squad returns a lot of offensive talent, and I think the team upgrades at quarterback. Daniel Sams is the real deal for the Wildcats. :crossfingers:

Here is how the rest of the Big 12 stacks up:

No. 10: Kansas Jayhawks

No. 9: Iowa State Cyclones

No. 8: TCU Horned Frogs

No. 7: Texas Longhorns

No. 6: Kansas State Wildcats

So, the returning Big 12 champs who did NOT win on defense, UPGRADE at quarterback, and he has us 6th?

Yea, strange logic.  But I like that he recognizes #Life as talented and the starter over Waters.

Also, he got Balyor ranked no. 1 and WV ranked 2nd.  Neither one have a QB coming back.  He got OSU as no. 3, but doesn't know which QB Gundy will start.  They also lost the top RB in the conference.
It's just strange logic, Pete.

I don't think I've ever seen Texas outside of the top 3 in a preseason Big 12 poll.

The only reason I noticed was because TCU was ranked so low.
