Big 12 officially distributing $252 million, or an avg of $25.2/school. With TCU/WVU still getting partial shares, the Cats should get around $26 to $26.5 million
The Big 12 was 2nd in per school distr last year behind the Big 10. Now the SEC has pushed ahead as well, giving out $31 per school. We don't yet know the PAC or ACC numbers.
I'm concerned at how quickly we fell behind the big boy conferences. How do Tex and OU react to this?
When you add up our T3, I think we end up making more than SEC schools.
At the very least, UT, OU, and KU make more than all of them.
No way (for us, anyway). Our total Tier 3 contract with Learfield is about $5 million and it includes Bball noncon, coaches shows, radio network and other rights. Optimistically, assume $4 mil of that is Tier 3 TV. That puts us close to $30 mil overall, a little behind the SEC's $31 mil. But last year, we were well ahead of all of the SEC schools... at this rate, they'll leave us in the dust within another year or so.
Texas has some more cushion with LHN. OU & KU have some good Tier 3 TV deals, so they are somewhere between us and Texas and probably about even with the SEC. Everyone else is in the same boat as us.
But the SEC is going to continue to get more and more money from their network, and the Big Ten is about to renegotiate its expiring Tier 1 contract. Those two conf are on the verge of blowing everyone else away very soon.
