Oakmont appears to be the most immaculately maintained course ever placed in a cow pasture with a highway running through the middle of it.

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Project 2025 - Will it happen?
« on: July 10, 2024, 11:30:23 AM »
This is a thread for honest steel-manning of the Project 2025 initiative put forward by the Heritage Foundation and former members of the Trump administration (who are likely members of a future Trump administration).

NOVEMBER 2024 EDIT:

Which do you prefer? For example, if all your favorite actors/writers/directors could do either, what would you rather experience them in?

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Lock Hunter Biden UP!
« on: June 03, 2024, 10:57:07 AM »
It's in the best interest of national unity for the court to convict Hunter Biden and to sentence him to time in jail. Absolutely no one on the left (except maybe his dad) gives two shits if Hunter rots in jail or not, and every soul on the right wants the death penalty for Hunter.  Putting him in prison is the right thing to do.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/nil-driven-las-vegas-college-basketball-event-with-millions-paid-to-schools-is-nearly-finalized/

Newly created elite event in Vegas that pays the teams each $1M and allegedly signs the players up for some sort of NIL money going forward.  Houston is in it, and Kansas is on the waiting list.

If I’m Gene, I’m furious with Linton. Why would Gene want to stick around after that? Kleinman seems loyal to Gene. This isn’t a terrific situation for KSU.

12
It's deal time.  Name one thing on your preferred party's (or personal) ideological agenda/platform/whatever that you'd be willing to trade.

13
Are we looking at a temporary situation with Houston as the indisputable kings of the conference?

Now that Alabama has deemed frozen embryos to be children, perhaps new avenues to the child tax credits have become available.  I wonder if I can freeze up a batch of a dozen or so children and keep them in my freezer in my home, then claim them on my tax return?  Additionally, I'd like to claim them on the FAFSA and qualify my non-frozen children for Pell Grants.

We asked for this. This abomination of 9pm games. The blood is on our hands.

Kansas State Basketball is hard / Is Tang a better coach than Bill Self?
« on: February 05, 2024, 10:58:26 PM »
Obviously head to head, Tang has settled it on the court and is the better coach. However, there are likely other things to consider.

What are your thoughts?

It’s wonderful to have clinched a successful season with this victory over Kansas! Moreover, Tylor Perry is now season MVP as a result of his triumphant effort, leading all scorers in our victory!

Everything else this basketball season is merely icing on the cake.

Essentially Flyertalk / Snowbirding and Sunbirding
« on: January 25, 2024, 11:18:12 PM »
In 3 years I may try my hand at snowbirding. Who has done it, or is familiar?  I’m a total noob, and open to any warm area for the months of Jan - March.

Looks like Texas, Arizona, and Florida are the most common.

I’d like to rent a fully furnished  2 - 3 bedroom house or townhome,  with a fenced yard for my dogs for 3 months.

I just watched the 60 minutes segment from Sunday about quantum computing and I am now very in what these fuckers can do.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/quantum-computing-advances-60-minutes/

Purported to be able to eventually reach speeds that are millions of times faster than today’s supercomputers.

So, it could break every encryption everywhere all at once or something rough ridin' nuts like that, and so the government is revamping encryption standards because they know this crap is coming.  Apparently people think these things will be able to compute things that would have otherwise been impossible for traditional supercomputers to do even a 1000 years from now.

What the eff, man, this could get nuts.

We plug an AI into that, and give it access to training data in the form of every accessible piece of material connected to the internet in world, then it’s really just bound by the speed of internet connectivity. It’s going to read everything just as fast as the pipes can connect it.

I mean, this could eventually create real honest to goodness sentient consciousness. This path might be the prerequisite to AGI in our lifetimes.

What an interesting time to be alive!

20
We have the greatest basketball conference in the world, let’s make it even better and play everyone twice. Remove the non-conference games and make this happen!

21
We play Texas after we play the Houston commuter school that should have never been invited into the Big 12.

Ewers is hurt. Hard to say if this is a good thing or bad thing, because his backup, Maaaalik Murphy, is big and fast. Luckily we get a week to watch how Sark uses Maaaaalik against BYU and build our dossier.

We wash away the stink of the Mizzou and OSU losses if we win this one, AND probably put ourselves in the Big 12 championship game again.

Kansas State Football / Iowa HC’s Idiot Kid Thread
« on: September 13, 2023, 10:08:29 AM »
So, many of you may already be aware of this, but I recently learned that the Iowa HC has an idiot kid who serves as his OC, and like every rough ridin' Iowa fan in the universe hates the kids guts…AND, the AD stepped in and added requirements to the idiot kid’s contract that Iowa must average 25 points a game this year or the kid gets less money and gets crap canned.

The story is here:

Anyway, there is an X app account that tracks this saga.

I am leaning toward us crushing everyone in our path this year. The offense could be great. The defense will probably be well coached and sound, but may not be a big play defense (as happens when you lose a first round DL).

My prediction is that we lose two conference games, and go on to beat UT in the championship game to win our second conference title in a row.

If you analyze the heat wave patterns (As I and many of my colleagues have) you’ll see that the entire Confederacy is being scalded by the fires of hell (metaphorically?).

The og part of the good book tells us that God made the heavens and the earth,  and that God punishes. Ipso-facto the Confederacy is being punished by god. go cats

My guesses (not in order)

UCF - Malzahn gets them humming if he stays
KSU - KK is still here, hopefully
TCU - location, school commitment
Baylor - location, school commitment
Houston - location, school commitment
