I share a work area with my boss who is a germaphobe.  If I'm at about 75% or less, she just sends me packing.

that's me.  anyone who works for me sniffles and they are told to GTFO.

I've never faked a sick day because I worry that I'll actually get real sick shortly after and people will be like wtf he was just sick a few days ago.  Plus missing work is more work than going to work in my line of work.

That's the only time I've missed work, 2 weeks because of bronchitis, could barely move.

Depends on if they hang out with germ incubators (kids).

What kind of job has compensation set in such a way that they hand out 2 raises in a month?

A business way behind its competitors would be my guess.

I once had an employee that would be fine on a Wednesday, sick on a Thursday, fine on a Friday. guess who never got a raise?
If this was a reoccuring thing than I get it, but there have been plenty of times where I have started getting sick at night, feel like crap the next day, and start feeling better at night only to feel relatively fine the next day.  Of course, I usually just go into work anyway or if I'm really bad I just VPN.

The first two months baby Emo was at daycare was the worst.  I was sick for two months.  I still went to work, but it sucked.  And for some weird reason I haven't really been sick since.  Probably get cancer when he goes to kindergarten.  And I'll still go to work prolly.

Took a Friday off a few weeks ago  :frown:

I really didn't feel good but could have easily gone to work. Slept till noon and and then played video games

Felt like kind of a dick but even taking Friday off I had put in 50 hours that week and was 2 days ahead of schedule on a project...

Look at me rationalizing  :frown:

I only use sick days on a random Tuesday or possibly a Wednesday. Mondays and Fridays are just a given that you're faking the crap out of that crap.

What's the point of taking a day off if you have to go to work the next day anyway?

I average about 1 good mental health day every 6 months. I still work from home a bit tho. Sometimes it's just nice to sleep in and hang out with the wife. Do some crap you've been meaning to do for a while around the house.

I didn't realize until this year that companies don't make you use your own PTO for a Family members funeral. Is that law across the board or just here?

If you need to fake being sick it's best to say you have to stay home with a sick kid.  Then it's fine if you're fine the next day.

My company has a 1 funeral day per year policy. I used it to go to my grandfather's funeral last year. I doubt it's a law.

in my experience, funeral time is handled like jury duty time (not taken out of your normal pto)

Depends on the company. I get one jury duty day and three funeral days a year. Also three personal days rather than sick days.

Zero guilt taking personal days.

I let my people take whatever they need. I think we have some chart about ow much you can take depending on how you are related but I never pay attention to it.
