I share a work area with my boss who is a germaphobe.  If I'm at about 75% or less, she just sends me packing.

I'd rather have those days off vs your 3% raise.

there are actual adults who like call in/email work and pretend to be sick because they don't want to say they don't want to work that day?  smdh

I laid in bed last Tuesday till noon watching parks and rec and then went and worked out for 2 hours. It was fantastic! I also closed out another full-time position from home. That's 10 already in 2017.  :gocho:

I'd rather have those days off vs your 3% raise.

in fairness, you have absolutely no idea what the raise, incentive, etc. would/could be. as for your thoughts to lsoc about not being able to fire people for taking sick leave, you're wrong. dead wrong. people can and do get fired all the time for not being reliable. not for being "sick", but for not being reliable. some jobs require and need the person to show up and physically be there most of the time. some don't. I doubt yours does, so you're probably fine. just know that your assumption about liberally using sick leave was incorrect and do whatever you want with that information.

I would take the 3% raise over a couple of extra days off and no raise.

Guess which employees make great money and advance?  Those who lie about being sick then tell me I can't fire them.  I always think "this person is dependable and I want to stake my wealth on them"

Also, I think you have to follow the suit of your environment. When my higher ups use sick days more than I do, I feel like it's ok to do every once and a grey moon.

Also, RD, you're right. I can literally do this job from space, so that does make a difference.

I must be doing something right, to get two raises in less than a month. Good to know.

Also, guess who didn't take any time off during the holidays? This guy! I sat on 3 PTO days. I don't think an innocent sick day every 6 months is going to hurt the company.

I once had an employee that would be fine on a Wednesday, sick on a Thursday, fine on a Friday. guess who never got a raise?

Any time I am feeling a sickness coming on at work, I make sure to cough a lot that day in case I decide to take off the next day sick. Then I cough a lot the day I come back too.

To me that's an indication they were really sick.  I mean what kind of idiot would fake being sick on Thursday and come back on Friday when they could just fake a sickness of Friday for a sweet 3 day weekend?
