Your wife is whooping your ass.

But good job though.  Getting started sucks.

I need to get started too.  I got a horrible side cramp walking up the stairs at Bramlage on Sunday.

Just signed up for a 50k trail race.  That’s double my longest race so far.   :sdeek:

Good luck, man! There is an annual 10/25/50K trail race here every year that quite literally almost goes through our yard. One day... One day...

Got a link? Me and college bud are hitting some trail races over the next few years. Traveling adjacent states. He's in Knoxville.

No current link as the last one was just Last month, but here is that one...

https://www.wvmtr.org/races/kanawha-trace/

Limit is usually 100 people for the 50K, just fyi. If you make it to that race you better get ahold of me, maybe Ill do the 10 next year and we can grab some local brews after!

The trails, at least the last 10-15 that Im familiar with on the KT, are amazing. I know a bunch of the folks that do upkeep, and Ill probably help them out with it next year before the race as well. We backpacked the last 10-15 last year, it's an amazing trail. You really should try to make it. It is NOT easy, but you live in the region, so you know how the trails are over here.

Ran my first marathon this weekend.  Wasn’t a race or anything.  Just a training run, but very memorable.  Timed it perfectly with the aspens turning. Cruising down a trail with golden leaves falling and a cool breeze in your face

See vision quest thread for pics.

Going to start training for marathon numero dos very soon. Anyone have any links to good intermediate training plans? Planning to run 5-6 days a week and looking to finish faster than marathon numero uno.

I did a Higdon plan pretty faithfully for my first marathon and wasn't super happy with the result. (Meaning: a lot of the criticisms of Higdon's plans came to fruition exactly as people said they would.)

I've looked at Higdon's intermediate plans and am looking for something with a little more variation/more speedwork mixed in. Any new plans or pro-tips appreciated.

Hanson is good. Stick to the beginner plan. Speed work starts a bit later. Advanced plan has pretty high volume right from the start.

Personally, I'd recommend a coach that can guide and teach you. I used one for a year. Also read everything that I could on periodization and heart rate training methods.

Just signed up for a 50k trail race.  That’s double my longest race so far.   :sdeek:

Maybe the most painful thing I’ve ever done.

I want to do another.

Congrats! I'm hitting a 25K in a few weeks. I'm sure it will hurt a bit but not 50K kind of hurt.

It’s getting warmer guys, time to start cranking up the mileage. What’s your running goal this year?  Any new races?

Half marathon next weekend. Then back to back half marathon four weeks later. Road half on Saturday. Trail half on Sunday. Full marathon in November. Will be spending most of the summer in the woods.

Running the Prairie Spirit Trail 100 next week. I'm running the 100k, not the 100 miler. First distance longer than a marathon.

Any 'Cat fans out there want to join my pacing team for a v v v slow last 50k? Run is from Ottawa to Welda and back. It's going to be beautiful--there are going to be so many silos and morton buildings and stuff.
