Two people at work have commented this week on my Hannah Montana cup in reference to her VMA performance.

The first page of this thread made me happy for michigancat.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

Other than being 1000x as talented as these other losers, how did Justin Timberlake manage to turn out okay (to put lightly) while seemingly every other child star is an absolute rough ridin' disaster?

I enjoyed that the director made sure to get his name in at the end. I don't think I've ever seen that in a music video.

I think the talent has everything to do with it. You don't usually start to slide downhill until you reach your peak and Timberlake just keeps getting better.

He adapted very well. But you also don't see JT getting in trouble with drugs, DUIs, etc. The biggest scandal he ever had was the Superbowl thing.  He just kept a public image of a cool dude who likes to do cool dude things vs trying to shock the public.

Nope. He was still rocketing up the mountain at that point. I think he's at the summit now, but he's old and mature enough to find a gradual path back down rather than just sliding down face first.

And that inspired one of his greatest works, again his talent pulled him upward and onward

Every female child star that wants a career is told they have to do the mature, independent, breaking-out-of-shell thing.  It's just a matter of how porny they're willing to go.

There'll never be a shortage of parents willing to sell their daughters to Disney.

I don't know how you define disaster, but IMO, yes.

I bet the directors all like, "okay for this scene miley we are going to have you swing from the wrecking ball, its symbolic - as in you are along for the ride"

miley: "ok, I'll just get naked"

director: "no miley that's not..."

miley: *already naked*
