When you do it for business all the time it desensitizes you. Do it all the time.

I actually prefer to eat out alone and do my own cooking when friends are in the mix. Cooking for one sucks when you don't have a dishwasher.

I usually get a table if I can't get a spot at the bar when traveling.  I like having TV's and the random chance at good conversation at the bars.  One of the best conversations I've ever had was with a 50ish year old guy from Denver that grew up in Topeka and lived in KC around my age.  We were both hanging out at the really nice hotel bar/restaurant in Ontario, CA.

It was a small world thing, but we pounded booze, talked Topeka, and watched the NBA playoffs.  It was a great night.

I also went and saw Iron Man 3 alone a few weeks ago.  It was fantastic.  Sat exactly where I wanted, ordered a huge ICEE, and I shut my brain off for a few hours.  I plan on doing the same thing with Star Trek soon.

Started eating alone a lot more this year. Love it.

Was eating in the Dillion's food court the other day by myself and guess who showed up out of nowhere - our main man Olympic winner stud Erik Kynard sat down alone at the table next to me.  :D

I've done that many times. When you're eating by yourself, you want to be left alone.

And you can drink booze anytime of day free of judgment. Airports are rough ridin' magical.

Do it regularly and every chance I get.   Spend a bunch of the day having to talk to people, and it's fantastic to have the solace, eat and have a drink, watch a game without having to carry on a conversation.

Agreed. The two of us would have a good time not eating together.

It's definitely acceptable, but it's kinda boring in itself. I think that's why I (and apparently most others posting in this thread) need to be watching a game, reading the paper, or doing something on my phone/device.

when eating alone at a place like a grocery store, put some headphones in your ears.

they don't need to be plugged into anything, though.  :sdeek:

airports are one of the most disgusting places on earth.  i understand drinking at them, because you forget where you are.  i don't eat at airports unless mandatory and then more than likely it's prepackaged (skittles, maybe some gatorade, etc).  everything about airports are laced with germs.  good grief.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

What about eating with your S/O?  Especially if you're been together for like 5 years?  It's like what do you talk about that you didn't just talk about already this week or whatever.  Awkward.

I don't travel as much as I used to, but airports are the thing I miss most about traveling.

I used to love walking around them after a flight delay just to see what was there.

My favorite is still Charlotte.  Really solid food options and not so big that you can't just eat wherever you want.  I always stop at the Jamba Juice in Terminal C because it's right off of the main area.  I also watched the Home Run Derby last year at the Chili's Too.  Good times.

Especially when he has the attitude and says things like, "What made you think I would care about that?" Really? WTF!? Would you rather I just sat here and stared at you while I eat?
